Need to take smart meter readings

I'm joining Octopus Energy (Thanks to all those that sent me codes) from BG tomorrow and they have asked for meter readings not a problem in the old world but I am in the new now with smart meters and have never read them- thought that was the point...
How do I get the data from them?

Press the Green Button  (look for the Imp kWh screen) -  press A (look for the m3 screen

The recommendation of the Forum is that you should still read meters and keep your own record
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

How does that work when many of Octopus smart tariffs bill on 30 minute usage data and not meter index readings? I am on a 3 rate/time period electricity smart tariff and my monthly bill does not show any meter index readings.

It works for the several people that are not on that sort of tariff.

I can't comment on your personal situation, but I'm on a 2-rate Octopus smart tariff (Go) which is billed on 30-minute index data but Octopus have also configurfed my meter to use two registers to record energy used in the separate periods.
Have you checked your indices recently? You could possibly have three registers in use, even if Octopus isn't using them for billing?

Yes. You are an outlier. I came off Go to Go Faster and now to Flux. All the tariffs have been single register. I was last on a 2 register October tariff in October 2019: GO then switched to single register.

    Edit:

This is why I am not a great fan of providing manual smart meter readings. This is what the Octopus App shows:

When I look at the IHD and the actual smart meter rolling display it shows 03183 (tye sum of all the registers). To access the actual meter indexes, I have to go into the meter TOU matrix which shows T1 02696.75 and T2 00486.39. All my usage is offpeak. The T2 reading has not changed from Oct 2019.

Yep, they're the screens on my meters, that I read monthly, and I have smart meters.

I keep my own records, which is handy for when my meters went dumb with my previous supplier (BG).

And in case you didn't know @TimSynths, for the gas, you only provide the whole number for your reading = 00088 in this case.
