Advice about decrepit boiler - repair or replace

I’d be grateful for some advice and opinions on the situation with our boiler, please. We’ve had our annual boiler service, and been advised it is in dangerous condition and can’t be used. The main problem is with the heat exchanger. We have a British Gas homecare boiler plan, so the BG engineer has been out. His advice…

Yes it included the main heat exchanger. I think it took about 3 hours to complete. There were some additional problems - not with the boiler itself, but accessing some surrounding electrical stuff - that slowed things down.
