Landline needs moving

Our landline, enters the property through the window frame in our hallway - with a BT Socket wall mounted below the window
We are getting some building work done in a couple of weeks and the window is being replaced by a doorway - so the socket will need moving
Are the builders allowed to do this or will Openreach have to be involved ?
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

I believe Openreach have to do it as the wiring up to the socket is their responsibility. I'd guess you'd have to contact your provider as they need to pass it on for you. They may need to put a new line in from the pole if it's a pole that's used.0

Expect to pay around £130 for the work, as above, arrange it via your phone provider.0

Of course, your builders aren't "allowed" to do it, but ................3 -

Up to the master socket should be Openreach but thereafter (e.g. an extension) a competent person can do.0

Does the phone line - not count as a "vital utility" like gas, water and electricity - that would be moved free of charge for disabled building purposes (priority customers) - when a disabled toilet is being constructed ?

I guess you are "Weevie" on the TalkTalk board so I see you have the definitive answer from a staff member there, £128.40 being the charge for Openreach to do the work, even if it is only 6 feet !
Your assumption of a free move has sadly proved to be incorrect.0
