Talking of home made signs, my relative spotted this car park serving a few flats in central Hove right next to restricted streets and a busy retail area where you can't leave your car on street.

    JUST DOWN FROM HOVE STATION

    DIRECT TRAIN ROUTE TO LONDON

Could be a classic place plagued by abuse.

    NO PPC

    NO CARMAGEDDON

Cheap sign made from a numberplate, nice bright colour & prominent text is all that is needed.

Closer view of the home made sign:

Another business has made their own sign.

Right next to a school, large Tesco, BHCC permit restricted streets, a pub and a gym with no car park, etc.

This is behind George Street (shops) Hove:

    NO PPC

    NO CARMAGEDDON

Next to that Forecourt is the delivery area behind a Church, and they use Euro Car Parks.

Right in the centre of Hove, next to a Tesco Superstore, 5 mins walk from the seafront.

£70 PCN is a sufficient deterrent.

In fact you can't even read the £70...

The crappy looking storage van is authorised to be there - it's connected to another van authorised to use this car park to sell hot dogs according to my relative.

No abuse of the car park.

Another home-made sign to stop shoppers or unauthorised motorists using their car park.

Trinity Medical Centre, central Hove, Brighton.

This is opposite George Street (shops) Hove:

    NO PPC

    NO CARMAGEDDON

Entrance gate is open; my relative is a patient so she walked in and took photos:

Close up of 'no parking' signs on the white door:

Very busy location near Hove seafront to the south and Hove station to the immediate north:

Waitrose, Portishead, recent GSV images. Infested by Britannia Parking Group. Note the lack of Ts and Cs.

As far as I can tell this is the only sign, near the store entrance, with the deterrent of £70 on it. That's very sneaky in my opinion. A motorist will have to find a space, park, then walk across the car park to find a sign giving the Ts and Cs before they can decide whether they want to stay or not. This assumes they would even see the sign which is off to one side of the entrance and would be missed by customers approaching from the other side.

Sharing the same entrance road is a car park for Lidl, a hotel, and several other businesses including pubs and restaurants, infested by ParkingEye who think the deterrent should be £100. I have proof that PE unilaterally reduced the parking time from 3 hours to 2 in breach of the original planning order, and in breach of the council's local travel policy that allows parking for people to visit other businesses and reduce the number of trips into the town.

Very soon, the DLUHC will be aware of this as well.

Sainsbury's Portishead was showing a £60 charge on the 2019 GSV images, but I can't get there to prove it's still the same at the moment.

I married my cousin. I had to...
    I don't have a sister. :D
    All my screwdrivers are cordless.

Back to my Shoreham friend's evidence.

I'm told there are some 40 flats here.

This is not some backwater of Sussex.
    it's a 3 minute walk from:

    -  a shopping centre, one block north
    -  the beach (south) including a popular cafe
    -  Southwick Station two roads walk away which is a direct train ride to Brighton or London.

    Green Court
    Southwick, West Sussex

They have two entrances, no barrier at all and a polite sign is a sufficient deterrent.
