pinkelephant12 said:I have been monitoring parking cases at my local county court (Chelmsford). In August there were 8 set aside applications listed for parking cases. This is far more than for any other industry. Indeed, set asides seem to be extremely rare except in parking cases. These will presumably all return to court for another substantive hearing (or be discontinued if its DCBL) in due course.
How could this information best be used in the Call for Evidence?
Any suggestions would be welcome as I'm preparing my response in draft and will submit it nearer the deadline.

Fruitcake said:Using information gained from Companies House and the Solicitors Regulation Authority, I'm trying to think of a way without slandering anyone of mention in my call for evidence the former ownership until 2020 of the IPC by the same two men who at the time also owned the IAS and also owned a solicitors company that took motorists to court if their IAS appeals failed.
This could possibly be included in the "change in behaviour" section.
I also intend to include mention of things like the former CEO of the BPA being a sex offender who carried out sex acts whilst in charge of said BPA, the actions of the owner of a BPA member PPC who threatened to rape a motorist's partner, the former police officer who was dismissed for making sexual advances to the victim of a sexual assault and subsequently got a job with the IPC, and the disgraced school teacher who was sacked for making inappropriate comments/advances to pupils at a school dance who also ended up working for the IPC.1 -

I've been putting the feelers out with the Brighton fan community; especially locals who I have helped. I now have dozens / hundreds of photos from my contacts in various parts of Sussex and will start adding them here.
My own photos from my actual Sussex area will be provided direct to DLUHC to avoid any clues as to where my stomping ground is.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Here's the Amex Stadium, Brighton, on a busy match day v Newcastle.
No PPC.Stewards letting certain cars park in one area (guests, sponsors etc.) no fuss.
Fans are not allowed to park here on matchdays but otherwise on non-matchdays, you can drive in with immediate authorisation from a person at the barrier and park up for as long as you like to buy stuff at the shop, attend a community meeting, etc.Second pic shows the 'no parking' area protected by a cheap barrier. Not exactly carmageddon:PRIVATE 'PCN'? Large call centre with hundreds of staff:
EDF Energy in Portslade, East Sussex, which is used as a Park & Ride on matchdays but the pics below were taken on a weekday.
It's near shops and just along the road from Portslade Station, a direct commuter route to London.
No barrier at all as a car drives in. EDF's own prominent signs at the visitor bays.
Open gate to the staff parking area at the back. No carmageddon:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

This is at Tesco Portslade, East Sussex; a medium size Metro supermarket with the only multi storey car park behind a busy shopping parade.
Close to Portslade station, commuter route to London. My family member confirms that this car park is never full, hence them offering long term paid parking

£70 is sufficient deterrent:

Holmbush Centre, Shoreham, West Sussex, large retail park positioned close to houses, other shops and the main road route (A27).
Includes a very large M&S with cafe (no PPC)
And a Tesco Extra with no time restriction.
The only PPC signs are at the Tesco accessible bays - £70 PCN - but they are both (M&S end and Tesco end) almost empty, so no difference in deterrent value:Tesco end:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Brighton Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College, 205 Dyke Road, Hove, BN3 6EG
Gates open during the day in the first picture (gate is closed at night) - very large car park in the centre of a residential area of the city where I believe all local roads are permit holders only, all day.
3500 A level students, and hundreds of staff.
No PPC:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Seafront BP petrol station and M&S Simply Food, 373 Kingsway, Hove, BN3 4QD
My relative tells me that the streets round there are permit only all day, so the side bays at this site could be open to abuse in August, from drivers walking across to the prom.
The seafront is over the road.
No carmageddon here.
They have their own yellow, black & red signs which are very prominent and could state any sum of money - £50, £500 - and it would be an effective deterrent.
NO PPC:
EV bays are not abused:
BP's own sign.
MUCH clearer than any PPC sign would be:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
