That wheel clamping sign will be a legacy sign, and should have been removed at some point in the past 11 years. :)

Much better to have a sign with an empty threat of wheel  clamping than a PPC causing misery to its victims

Wheelclamping was outlawed in Scotland in 1991-so only 32 years late.

So very true. Was just about to say this town centre has no PPC presence then remembered M&S Food does with ANPR cameras £100 PCN. This area has very active community council and many conservation areas. Could be the reason a planning application for cameras was submitted.
  • Back again with a stroll around Furzton Lake in Milton Keynes.  First up is the free unmanaged car park for the relatively new Dinosaur Valley* Crazy Golf and  Italian Sul Lago restaurant.  The car park has been there for many years.

*strange name for the venue as it is at the top of the hill.

  • This is Furzton Premier Inn and Hungry Horse pub/restaurant.  Nothing special here, usual Euro Car Parks setup with free parking for customers plus option to pay for parking.  Lots of clear signs around the car park.  £100 charge for non-compliance.  The reason for posting is that it is right next door to offices which I will post up next.

The part of the car park nearest the hotel is quite busy, difficult to see here but I couldn't be bothered to walk further in.

  • Here's a Google Maps view of the Furzton Premier Inn + car park.

Here's a view of the car park next door.  This was taken on a Sunday so car park empty.  No parking management. Spaces are marked out with company names.

Just a little further round the lake is the Parks Trust car park which is managed by Smart (who took over from Napier last year).  This car park was previously completely free.  It is still free for up to 2 hours.  Good signage throughout and £50 charge for non-compliance.  One criticism is that it is not clear from the signs if a ticket is required for the 2 hour free period.  I may have to park there to find out

Close-up of one of these signs with warning that appeals cannot be dealt with on site even though there's no one to appeal to, this car park is unstaffed.
