Friend of my son 'may' be having games addiction/financial issues.

At the end of the day it isn't yours or your sons responsibility to check where his friends' money goes. If he is 20 years old he should be able to manage his own finances himself without burdening others. The only thing I would suggest is maybe your son having a word with him 1 to 1 to see what is going on.1
