I had a switch rejected by the losing bank as I did have a card, but put that I had no card when applying for the switch. That taught me to not be so lazy when switching (I couldn't be bothered to dig the card out).WillPS said:
The losing bank will typically reject CASS requests without a debit card number stated unless the account does not have an active debit card associated with it - even if the card has not been received or even physically produced yet.jbrassy said:I still think it is possible to do a bank switch without a debit card. I think the essential information is the account number and sort code and the debit card details are optional.
I've had switches rejected despite there not being any active debit card associated with the account. In that case providing the receiving provider (Nationwide) with the expired Starling debit card number worked - but I don't think Starling were correct to refuse the switch initially.
