SIL got hers first week in June for a Sep 1st retirement.  Still not had any details though after applying on line 5th June.  Both myself and MrsM had replies about 2 weeks after applying.
I applied mid March and didn’t hear until mid June. I expected it to be a longer wait as I knew I’d be inheriting some additional pension. Friends who applied two weeks after me got their award letter within 2 weeks but they were just straightforward claims.

The way I worded my post I see it sounds as if it’s this month. But it’s not till next year just wanted to get an idea of the timeline. I was divorced about 25 years ago but have no idea where the documents are now! Can you get copies somewhere? Or is the year all they need?

The information you need is at this link - the cost depends on what information you have. If you can remember the solicitor you used you could begin with that practice and ask them about your pension entitlement based on your ex spouse's national insurance contributions (even if the solicitor has retired or died, the history of the practice and their records should be traceable and retrievable, if you need it.

You might not need it if you were a child benefit claimant as this would credit your record with NI credits for any years where you were receiving this and not also making NI contributions for yourself. It was not income dependent 25 years ago - it would have been in place from your first child's birth date until your youngest finished school (including 6th form or further education, if that followed until 18/19 (normally).

Have you checked for any missing years? you can do so really easily at this link

Apologies are due to TPS.  After bugging her she found a brown envelope tucked away where she puts her mail down, she doesn't like looking in brown envelopes in case they are bills !!  The letter inside was dated 5th June, same day as she applied, so the computer obviously auto replied as soon as it received the application. All set for 1st payment 1.5 weeks after her birthday.

When my wife got her SP, the first payment was for 1 day and was paid on her 66th birthday, the first full SP payment was 4 weeks later. In my own case I got my first partial payment 22 days after my birthday. So it varies from case to case.
  • Got my State Pension letter detailing the dates for my first and them subsequent payments starting next year this morning. All present and correct and with me buying one years worth of voluntary contributions I am only 45p a week short of the maximum so well happy!

I chose 4 weekly payments and received my initial payment the day after my 66th birthday.

I have just seen the post two before this so my one day after payment doesn’t look so good now. :)
