I've founds some flights to Rio in January, BA has the best prices. I'm now questioning myself as to whether to buy now or wait for a "sale".

If i could even find a 10% off coupon I'd book now.

Any advice please?

Last year BA had a sale commencing 1st September. Whether or not they have one this year around that time could depend on how ticket sales are going.

You may find the time of day when you book affects the price as well.  I was looking for a flight on a different airline over the last couple of weeks and it went from £600 to £750 and then shot up to almost £1k on Thursday evening.  Checked again on Friday morning and it had dropped by £100.  Completely all the same details/times/extras.

If you are happy with the price I’d book it.

Keep watching, they may drop. Also look at British Airways holidays, sometimes it works out cheaper to book the flight +hotel or car hire in one booking.

Virgin is going to have a sale in a fortnight, this usually encourages BA to do the same, but since VS do not fly the route you want to book, it may not appear in the sale. January is obviously high season for the southern hemisphere, sales tend to promote low season fares which are harder to sell, if the fare has already increased it may be an indication that ticket sales are good which means the fare will only go one way

I second.  Even if you only book the first night/s on arrival or last nights it becomes a package and you have extra security.

Another advantages of BA Holidays in that you can pay in flexible installments rather than flights which must be paid immediately. This effectively gives an interest free loan.
