August is my birthday month too @beanielou! 😁Right, August! Here’s the plan…
Awesome - You are awesome. Believe it.'I am awesome'… will keep practising. 🫤
Wellness - is at the heart of everything we do.👇
Exercise - is another key turtle concern. Targets this month - Average 4 x 1/2 hour sessions a week or an hour long daily walk.OH and I very recently joined our local gym (not money saving at all) but we were starting to creak. Minimum contract we could take was 4 months and then it’ll be a rolling contract that can be cancelled. We’ve been enthusiastically going for the first week so we’ll see how committed we are after 4 months. In my mind, we have to be using the membership 3 times per week each for it to be worth the money. Planning to do 2 classes, 2 swims and 2 gyms.
Stay in the Moment - it's all you have. It’s so true. And I do try to keep my head in the moment and appreciate the now but it’s incredibly difficult. Will keep trying and reminding myself to enjoy the now and the people in my life. Father-outlaw is to get a pacemaker, and it makes me think of all our parents getting older and frailer, and it fills me with deep sadness to the point of crying. I dread the day we lose any of our parents.
Overwhelmed, Overthinking or Overburdened - delegate, ask for help, drop a commitment (or just one meeting). If you're always at everyone's beck and call, you need to establish BOUNDARIES
Meal planning and preparation are vital. They save time and moneyI’m grateful to have succeeded with meal planning, it’s become a weekly habit for us, and it 100% saves money, time and having to make daily decisions on what we’re eating that night! OH and I sit down the evening before our grocery delivery and decide what we’re having for dinners the coming week. Lunch isn’t planned… it’s just whatever is leftover or whatever is in the cupboards. We do a small midweek top-up shop. It’s better that I do this otherwise OH will come home with an extra something or two.Every one of us has some things we can live without. Sell or donate 23 items this month. You can also live without toxic relationships or excessive social media.Still trying to declutter and sell what I can on V!ntd, with things I can’t sell going to the local charity shop. Last week I dropped off the bridesmaid dress I wore to friends’s wedding that I detested. £80 dress, worn once, what a waste of money. Hopefully the charity (which has a wedding shop) will get something decent for it.Funnily enough I deleted social media apps from my phone about a month ago because I felt my usage was getting too much. Not having the apps on my phone has dramatically reduced the amount of time I spend on social media. I’m hardly on it without them.I’ll continue to declutter areas of my life that hinder me.
An Attitude of Gratitude is a good thing to have. It focuses your mind on what you have rather than what you 'want' (not need - it's very important to distinguish the two). 3 things you are grateful for, every day please. Will do.
U - you need a budget.Always.
Goals - You need to know where you are goingGoals are paying off our mortgage (I even have a countdown timer on my phone!) and enjoying some of what the world has to offer through travel. That’s it!
U - Use what you have. Check your cupboards, fridge and freezer, plan your meals around what you have. Will do.
Staycation - If you have not been away this year, I think you are entitled to a staycation. We staycation in the summer months to vacation in the darker, colder months. Grateful that we are in a position to do that just now.Treat yourself (and others) kindly.Being kind and helpful makes me a happier person. The opposite has the opposite effect.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸9 -

Awesome August
Awesome - You are awesome. I know I am, but I need to take more credit for things at work instead of saying it was a team effort when really it was me, all me!
Wellness - is at the heart of everything we do. Blissfully ignorant of illness in our house, have experienced it second hand, but it has not touched me or mine thus far. Long may it continue to avoid us.
Exercise - is another key turtle concern. Targets this month - Average 4 x 1/2 hour sessions a week or an hour long daily walk (more if you want to), Tough 1-2 hours a day/ 5 out of 7 days I shall endeavour! The skipping rope has come out of retirement already.
Stay in the Moment - it's all you have. This month there will be a foreign holiday, I am not putting it off anymore.
Overwhelmed? I shall delegate and remove myself
Meal planning and prep are vital. Oh yes they flippin’ are! Avoid using food as a reward or consolation this one's for me too.
Every one has things we can live without. Sell or donate 23 items Agreed!
An Attitude of Gratitude is good - 3 things you are grateful for every day. okay
U - budget. £100 a week for all 6 of us to eat and play Spend Free Days -Average 15 It is the summer holidays.
Goals – No debts, no mortgage (due to a death last year), healthy renovation fund, and architects plans drawn up, 3 builders are supposed to be quoting, no quotes as yet. I will chase them. The work needs to start this year. I will live in a nice house.
Use what you have. Still have some weird items in the pantry, and about 15 cans of beer free Guinness. Plus the pulses that I inherited, and they never seem to end!! I know they will eventually. I also have camping items I can pass on, and might get away for a week and see if the tent is still in good nick.
Staycation – Planning on this too, and starting on scrumping and hedgerow gathering
Treat yourself (and others) kindly. Still volunteering and being nice, probably too nice sometimes but rather too nice than not nice enough.
August is the end of summer, soon we will be in the -bers and the heating might be needed. No harm in trying it out for 15 minutes, just to make sure it is still working if you (like me) turn it off in April and expect it to still be there in October. Also Mr Builder opined we would not be able to use the kitchen for 12 weeks once building work starts. We can set up a camp kitchen in another room, and plumb the washing machine into the bathroom upstairs, but will need to adjust mindset and adapt to the situation. Change is good, change is coming, change facilitates growth. It's all good clean fun really innit

How to Start Loving Yourself
1 Stop accepting your negative thoughts
2 Never apologise for who you are or what you like
3 Don't compare yourself to others - you are unique
4 Try to accept your 'flaws' as part of the unique you
5 Reject the media's limited ideal of beauty - create your own
6 Recognise that 'perfection' is unattainable without acceptance
7 know that acceptance doesn't happen overnight, but with time
(Happyhealthyhopeful)
Sometimes when you accomplish little things, it doesn't feel worth celebrating
"it's so small, anyone could do it"
but you are worth celebrating, your little accomplishments add up
let's celebrate our little wins together, I got you a (party) hat too
(Chibird)
For someone with a chronic illness, getting into the shower is an accomplishment on difficult days
