Insurance Voided After Accident

I understand that they would not have offered the policy if the V5C Registered Keeper is the company. However, the V5C Registered Keeper should have been me all along. If the V5C Registered Keeper was me since the start of the policy, wouldn't the policy still be valid?
I never wanted to have the policy under the Comapny name and address.
Do you have the written instruction to the dealer when you bought the car to say it should be in your personal name for the V5c?
Why didnt you spot the error when the V5c arrived?
If you can prove the dealership made the mistake there is a tiny chance of goodwill from the insurer but it does sound like you are clutching at straws especially if the V5c was back before the insurance was bought0 -
Appreciate all the responses. I now understand that it was a massive oversight on my part for not registering the V5C under my personal name.As it stands, due to the policy voidance, I am unable to move forward with the repair cost that the garage repair shop has estimated. Adding to this, the vehicle is accumulating daily storage costs as it is stored on their premises. The garage is located 80 miles (1hr 30mins) from my workplace, or 115 miles (2hrs 10mins) from my home, making it difficult for me to manage the situation easily.Currently, I am exploring options to sell the vehicle in its current state, given that it still retains some value. The garage has suggested they may have a buyer for damaged vehicles, and I am awaiting their response on Monday. Similarly, I have reached out to CashForCars and am awaiting their response too - has anyone had any experience in dealing with them?I am still seeking other avenues. Can anyone suggest any other schemes, companies or even scrap services (last resort) that might be interested in buying a vehicle in this condition?
Lastly, since my queries have now moved away from the insurance issue, should I repost this in another category for more appropriate advice? If so, which category would you suggest is most suitable?
Many thanks for all your help.0 -

For your other question - I'm not aware of any services but that's not my area of expertise.0 -
CSI_Yorkshire said:Slight clarification - the oversight was was telling the insurer that you were the registered keeper when you were not.
To ensure this doesn't occur again, for my future insurance with vehicles purchased from my company, could I get clarification on one point?
If a vehicle is owned by my company and I want to take out an insurance policy under my personal name and address, should the V5C Registered Keeper also be under my personal name and address?CSI_Yorkshire said:For your other question - I'm not aware of any services but that's not my area of expertise. As for selling the vehicle, I understand that this might not be your area of expertise.
If anyone else has any insights on avenues I can go down in selling the vehicle in its current damaged state - or could point me in the direction of the appropriate forum category, I would greatly appreciate it.0 -

You can get insurance where you are the policyholder but not the registered keeper - but that needs to be clear to the insurer at the time of the quote which in this case it wasn't. It's a bit more 'specialist' and you probably couldn't buy through a comparison site for example (see in the second image below says "Some insurers").

May I ask which website did you quote those two images from?
I will go through the mainstream ways in the future to keep it simple, as I will be going through comparison sites.
Just for absolute clarity (I wouldn't want a similar mistake and headache again), the simple mainstream process is:
1. I'll buy the vehicle with my company.
2. Register my name and home address in the V5C logbook.
3. Go on comparison website and take out policy with my name and home address - basically the very same details on the V5C?

1. The company buys the car
2. The car is registered to the company
3. The company insures the car given it is their asset
You can do:
1. The company buys the car
2. The car is registered to the company or to you
3. You insure the car but make sure you correctly declare the owner and registered keeper
Even if you complete the forms correctly there could be a challenge on if you have an insurable interest in the car if its owned by the company.1 -

When you mention I need to "correctly declare the owner and registered keeper":
Declare Owner - From what I recall, whilst declaring the owner, I was only able to select "company", I was not able to type further details such as business name and address. Is this enough to declare that the vehicle is owned by a company?
Declare Registered Keeper - Does that mean simply applying for the insurance using my own name and address?
Also, I did start a claim with the insurers who voided me.
However, because the insurance has been voided, nothing was actually claimed.
In this scenario, when applying for insurance for my next vehicle, do I declare a claim was made?
And I'm aware I need to declare that insurance is voided.0 -

Apologies, but what do you mean by a dummy quotation?0
