Is Nightfox safe for debt collection?

The other thread doesn't sound like a great advert for Nightfox either - although they did recover some money in that case, but that was because there was a court judgement for them to work with.
I would think carefully before employing their services. You're rolling the dice and hoping the builder will fold and pay up. Most likely you end up even more out of pocket and still have a leaky conservatory.

You clearly haven't read through the responses. There is good advice on how best to proceed, not to write a bad review and let them walk away.Diana262 said:From all these only option is to pay the money to fix the leak and write google reviews against the company and let them walk away. Or I guess you people will say don’t write any neg reviews also just forget it and let
them enjoy.thanks!!
You're behaving emotionally rather than rationally when it comes to the builder. Now you're doing the same on here. Take a break, read through the advice on the thread again - carefully - and assess your options.4 -
You told us earlier you'd already employed them.Diana262 said:Admin can close this thread as no one here knows anything about Nightfox and trying hard to dissuade me. The thread posted earlier says they did indeed collected £10000 for someone and didn’t give them the rest and took their charges as well. So I will also think about whether to employ these people or
not?
Thanks!!0 -
Do come back and tell us when you get your money,3

I didn’t employ them still. Have prepared few questions to ask them and finding out negative reviews abt them but there seems to be none anywhere. I guess they will threaten and make them pull down neg reviews and I know very well builders might not respond. But court is the last option as I know legal measures never help0

That's not what you told us earlier...Diana262 said:I didn’t employ them still. Have prepared few questions to ask them and finding out negative reviews abt them but there seems to be none anywhere. On what basis do you say that? It's completely untrue. Whilst not a guarantee of success, the small claims court process does work for many people and for many others, the threat of court action results in payment before anything gets to court.
You've decided to place your money with a company about which you know almost nothing, rather than with a legal process that is clear, transparent, affordable and proper. I'm sure you'll come back with tales of riches and hampers, but at this stage, it looks like a bizarre decision driven by emotion rather than sense.0 -
Yeah but that's the issue isn't it. To the extent that they operate legally they are completely ineffective. And they seem to be making promises to operate illegally in order to be effective.mr_stripey said:I am sure this company operates legally. They aren't "heavies" - perhaps the salesman has exaggerated the pressure they will use to get the money. But the fact remains that they can't force the builder to pay, so using them is basically gambling on the builder giving in to a letter or visit and paying up.
Or, to put it another way - you pay them £ 400 for them to ask the builder to pay. He can pay or say no - and if he says no, there's not much anyone can do2 -
Hi all,
As per the advice here, I went to small claims court and filed a case. Now I have been invited for preliminary hearing. The builder of my conservatory who never responded to us did respond to the case and said that it was fabricated. We sent the evidence with photos in DQ and the case was transferred to county court after the defendant dismissed mediation.
Could someone please let me know what to expect in Preliminary hearing. Should I send the trial bundle? The letter is not very clear and it says that this is to decide the track, witness and possibility of mediation etc.

Hi Diana262, I am in a very similar situation with a defective building company.
I would very much like to know what the progress / outcome is.
Did you have to get expert valuations for putting the work right?
BTW " sent the evidence with photos in DQ" what is DQ.
