  • :p Hee hee.
  • Pay wages into high interest current account. Live frugally and spend normally on cashback card(s). Pay these in full by DD, so no penalty charges. Keep maximum amount in high interest current account, to maximise interest and ensure DD's met, so no penalty charges. Transfer any excess funds into a high interest savings account.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

When you say dragging large sums of cash all over the place....and having to demand receipts, you make it sound like it's a chore. .

That's because travelling to my Bank to withdraw funds / undoing all my paperless billing (so I can get paper to be stamped!)/ taking the paper to your 'cashpoint' / then checking the 'cash' gets credited to my varied accounts ....... is nothing less than a PITA - let alone a chore. And particularly as my bills exceed my daily cash withdrawal facility - so I'd have to do it several times.

And get someone else to do it if I dare to have holidays / and drag myself out of bed to do it if I feel ill etc etc? What world are you in?
Also cash is a whole lot safer than cards,

Tell that to all the people who get mugged on their way from ATMs / pensioners from Post Offices etc. They tend not to post on these forums - hence card fraud appears worse. But the risk of your card being misappropriated is less than the risk if you're perceived to carry large sums of cash. And if your card is fraudulently used - you usually get the funds back. If you have cash taken - you do not.

I took this as light hearted initially - but now you're posting drivel.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
  • Good God you definitely wouldn't survive if you had to live as most people used to before the direct debit/cards/accounts were foisted upon us.

You only think I'm posting drivel because you are set in your ways. That's ok, I was hoping just to help those who might appreciate it. If one person reads this and gets something from it then I'll be glad to have helped.

I've read more threads on here about how people can't control their finances, security issues on accounts and general gripes about their banks so know they might like a different point of view.

Incidentally where do you get your info from that pensioners or victims of muggings don't post? I think you'll find there are plenty of posters on these forums who have been mugged...

After a little search I found this:

    http://www.star-dot-star.co.uk/Chip'n'Pin.htm

Chip 'n' Pin, You'd Have to be Either Totally Insane or Have More Money than Sense to Use it

The title says it all really and you might want to read the section on muggings. Like I said if you manage your finances correctly you won't need to lug large sums of money as bills usually do not fall on the same day.

If bills fall on different days that means I have to trek to the post office/paypoint wherever multiple times in a month.

No thanks ! I dont have the time for this!

That's rich from someone who's suggesting returning to the stone age! ;-)

No, but they do fall many miles apart.
