Those with fires might look into the brick makers. Shred, pulp, brick, burn.0 -
When I was clearing my late DM's house I found that she had kept every statement from 1976 onwards, plus cancelled cheques, utilities statements, pay advice slips then pension advice slips.I took everything to an confidential paper shredding company and watched them being fed into the huge bit of kit and then out again the other end. Took me four trips and some pennies but also saved an enormous amount of time. Now, at home, I burn any paper I don't need to keep (after scanning it first).1

In a time where there is increasing concern over the environment and where the vast majority of banking activities are done online, it feels very wasteful to request paper statements.3

You could always use a home shredding service to get rid of the bulk of the paperwork and then buy a cheap shredder going forward.

Paper comes out like confetti.
I have an old broken bbq bowl, it quite soothing watching it burn.

I got a £18 shredder from Argos and it works perfectly fine. Easy to use and most importantly does it’s job - shreds. I don’t believe you need to spend £100+ on a small device for personal needs.0

the more expensive shredders basically mean that the output from them is impossible to decipher as it's so finely cut up.
cheap shredders will just cut into long strips, if a 3rd party who came into contact with these shreddings they could easily piece them back together and read the documents, hus defeating the point of shredding.
I have a cheap shredder it was £20, but I also put all my shredded papers into my garden waste bin along with my food waste/lawn cuttings and leaves, and mix it up, nobody is going to go to the trouble of even attempting to go into that and decipher it0 -
I wanted to be safe than sorry & wanted a cheap good auto feed shredder which was on sale at Amazon, cuts it all into small micro bits so no one can ready my info, as live in block of flats have shared bins,
had loads of shredding to do which was easy with this shredder1
