Hi all, hope your all well…
So I have a shed load of copy Current accounts savings accounts & credit card statements to get rid of as wanna declutter my flat & don’t need all this paperwork,
I am looking at getting a Micro Cut Auto feed shredder for £100-£180
is that a good idea? Or should I go for a cheaper one?

I can’t burn the paper or chuck it the bin but can use blue confidential bins at work but don’t fancy doing that!
What would you lot suggest or what do you lot do with confidential paperwork

£100 - £180 is an awful lot for a shredder, unless you’re doing industrial scale, shredding. How much stuff do you need to get rid of?
No help to you, but I burn mine because I’ve got an open fireplace. Before that I got a cheap supermarket shredder off the market and did it a bit at a time on that. It did get clogged up occasionally if I didn’t empty it quick enough but it certainly did the job as long as you’re happy doing it a bit at a time and not all in one go.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
A free solution, put all the paperwork in bucket of water and leave the until it becomes pulp. Drain it then either put the pulp in a compost bin or into general waste.1

I'm in the same situation but I'm buying no £100 shredder
I will take the lot to my sons and burn them in his fire pit0 -
A cheap shredder will be fine.Life in the slow lane1

If it was me, I would use the confidential waste bin at work since it costs nothing. I would then buy a cheap (less than £50) shredder to keep on top of it in the future. I would go paperless on your bank accounts as this is more secure (and better for the environment).1

I would never go paperless but might be an option0

I have a cheap shredder but I'm rubbish at keeping up with the shredding so I recently had a clear out and ended up with two carrier bags full of stuff to shred. My shredder takes 5 to 10 sheets at a time and is messy to empty so I use that as an excuse to have a fire! Much more fun, much less effort and it counts towards my ultimate goal of becoming that crazy old guy next door. I opt for paperless statements where possible but it seems banks, and others, are still really good at sending snail mail.1
