Traffic Collision M3 flyover Belfast 16.20 friday 21-12-07

Hello, i was driving from the west-link up onto the M3 flyover today (friday 21-12-07) at approx 16.10 when a lorry crossed into my lane and struck the rear drivers side of my car. As the traffic was rather slow at that time of day my car almost stopped, i sounded my horn several times and flashed my lights in anger and then pulled over onto the hard shoulder as you would normally do. The lorry, which came from the M2 on the M3 flyover crossed into my lane to go towards the docks/Odyssey area.. The accident happened just as the flyover goes over the lagan.
As the driver seen me pull into the hard shoulder they then drove on and didnt stop. I was unable to get the reg of the lorry at the time.
I informed the police and there was nothing they could do to help other than breathalyze me and ask me to produce my insurance at my local station.
Did you happen to be driving on that road around this time and see the accident ?
Do you know anyone who might have been on this road at that time ?
Maybe you where in the docks area beside the Odyssey, did you see a driver of a lorry checking the passenger side of his cab for damage ?
There are traffic cameras on the flyover but i was informed that they do not record.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Jarrod

To be honest I cant see you getting much of a result , unless you get really lucky . Put it down to experience (although I hope you get the b*****d)
Might help if you check your dates as well , Fri is the 21st not the 20th .0 -

Sometimes people report what they've seen a few days after ..might be worth checking later

Have to agree, without a reg and without witnesses what can they do?
Hopefully someone will come forward who saw it...0 -
Similiar thing happened to me in Belfast, I chased the lorry banging my horn at him but he would not stop, I did get the reg and went to the police station. The reg and lorry description checked out but the driver said that he was not in that area on that day. The police told me they could do nothing - no witness to the accident. They also said that lorry drivers just don't realise they have knocked into cars.
Sorry, but I do not think you'll get any hope.0 -
This also happened to a friend of mine's partner, on the M2, and a very nice driver who had witnessed the incident reported it to the police, either the same day or the day after. Even with the witness statement the driver still denied knowing it had happened - maybe genuine, maybe not.
You could to a solicitor and apply to the Motor Insurers Bureau for compensation due to an untraced driver.
Good luck0 -
Same thing happened me a few years back behind city hall - I was pushed up on to the pavement and nearly hit a few pedestrians. Police never found who did it and I had to absorb the cost.
May their next s$!t be a hedgehog.Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"
