Have angst switching to new broadband/tv provider...

Options
Hi, have just cancelled Sky broadband and tv package and looking at deals...had been with Sky 6yrs and the person on phone couldn't/wouldn't offer any new deals..had been paying 46.50 and next month charges would have been 60.00 plus...have now read small print on a new deal which says increase in Feb 24 -3.9% and then again in April 24 ...so this means another 2 increases in any new broadband/tv package deal?  Am not a techie and need some advice here...thank you!

  • What are you looking for?

Another provider of TV other than just Freeview, eg Virgin, or a decent broadband service to allow you to watch things like Netflix?

Yes broadband and tv package...not Netflix...but hadn't considered the wait time for new installation set ups and Virgin can't install till 2 August...is this a reasonable timeframe when switching...think I was so deflated withSky call that its my anxiety issue...
  • Yes a few weeks delay is not uncommon.

Maybe Sky will come back and offer you a better deal as they used to do when people cancelled.

Have you had a look to see what alternatives are available at your address?

If you cancelled your broadband then you 've lost your landline number and may have additional costs if changing to a new supplier that uses the Open Reach system. If changing to Virgin Media I'd overlap the two, if changing to BT or Vodafone say, they switch you over and cancel the Sky broadband down. I'd stop the cancellation on the broadband only until you've decided what you're doing.

I've not cancelled my broadband in fact out of contract today..i've used the U switch process so this should cover me until the new provider sends new router - is this accurate?
