Open Reach say I can have full fibre.

Almost 2 month ago OR installed fibre cables to the top of my pole and almost straight away sent me an e-mail saying I could now have fibre into my home.
Hardly any Provider says I can have full fibre.
BT will not quote.
Those that do are not competitive with my present Provider VM and do not quote for phone only Broadband.

VM offer variations of included phone calls I pay about £5 a month extra.  I no longer have a separate landline as they updated the coax to me to carry the phone calls. (Voice over internet)

Are OR providers wanting us to use mobiles?

Other comments welcomed on the full fibre situation.

City Fibre are also in the area laying cables.

It took some six months between the fibre being installed at the poles until we could get service. There's a lot of stuff that has to be done before getting the service up and running.

Just because you built an airport doesn't mean a  plane's going to land on it the second you finish building it.
Just because somebody moves into a derelict shop doesn't mean they'll open straight away.
Just because Openreach have plonked some electronics on top of a pole near you doesn't mean the service is available there and then.
As above.. more to it then just shimmying up a telegraph pole and attaching some new cables.  Plenty of behind the scenes stuff to go.

Analogue phone service is going the way if the dodo.
Voice over IP services are available from many different suppliers, independently of your broadband contract.
Or you can use your mobile. (You might want to consider whether it's worth paying VM that £5 a month on top of your mobile contract!)

it’s pointless including Virgin Media in a discussion about Openreach and ISPs  that offer services over Openreach network, VM is a totally different network.
If OR say that FTTP is available at your location, then it’s up to individual ISP to make use of it and offer services over that network.

Openreach has informed the client that fibre is available so it is the broadband providers that are slowing the process up by not having up to date information.
All it would take is for a broadband provider to book a appointment  with Openreach to complete the installation
As Openreach is the builder of the network  they have announced that this shop is open for business

We've not long had FTTP here and Sky, BT & Vodafone all offer VoIP services from the start (BT charge extra :( ). We can also get TalkTalk but for some reason they don't offer a "landline" or VoIP even on their 65Mbps service, is that just at our location or are they getting rid of all voice services?
