Whilst not nice, shouldn’t NW be given credit here?Everyone is quick to complain but they’ve done account holder a favour here have they not.12

I think they did stop and return the payment - he then paid his 'mate` in cash. So he's still out of pocket.4

Pity the mate could talk his victim into giving him cash.Hopefully he can avoid a fraud marker on CIFAS, by distancing himself from his 'friend'.0

Getting back to original subject, Nationwide blocked me.
Last Thursday, I went in person to my local NW.
I told a staff lady standing at a table, my situation.
She phoned MW Fraud, spoke to them. The man dealing with my case was there but not available.
The man she was talking to said my case should have been resolved by now.
The lady checked. They had not received my 2nd email of "evidence", although I got an automatic reply of receipt.
I had my email printed on paper, so the lady scanned it and sent it to them.
The man told her he would phone me that afternoon.
He didn't.
I am at work today, off tomorrow and Wednesday.
So I will go into the NW local branch and hope to see that lady again.
She was professional, so should do her best again.
Meanwhile...last Friday, I went to Barclays bank in person.
Waited for it to open, saw the lady standing at a table.
Told her I wanted to open an savings account and get my wages paid in.
Her enquiries made me tell her my story of NW.
She said it is "confusing to have 2 bank accounts", and I should sort out NW.
I repeated the times I have tried to fix it.
She said I would need to make an appointment to open an account, but it would be better to have 1 account only with NW.
I had to start work, so I left it at that.
Maybe open an account online, or at another bank.0 -

I have 6 current accounts and I cannot be bothered to work out how many savings isa's and investment accounts. I don't get confused!
There are loads of accounts you can open online. Just get on and do it. It is usual to open a current account to pay your salary into though. You can get one with a savings account at the same bank and then transfer though.
Chase would be easy enough if you are happy banking on your phone.
Otherwise what about a basic current account with Lloyds or Halifax, or Nat West. All can easily open a current and a savings account and operate online by website or phone app.3 -
Barclays are one of the worst for opening occurrence accounts and requiring appointments
suggest you try an app-based account like monzo or starling2 -

The only reason I can think why Barclay's would try to dissuade you, is if they told their staff to put people off if they have had their accounts blocked due to getting involved in scames.
I wouldn't have told them why.

I wouldn't have told them why.Having more than one current account means taking extra care to manage which account money is going into and coming out of to avoid the risk of going overdrawn. Those of us on this forum who are good with managing/juggling multiple accounts won't see that as a problem as it becomes almost second nature/routine.The typical person walking into a branch of Barclays won't necessarily have that level of money management skill, and may be at risk of going overdrawn (possibly frequently) if they make mistakes. I can understand why that might lead Barclays staff warning people off having more than one current account because a customer going overdrawn in error due to account management issues is likely to be a PITB for Barclays to deal with, now they have to be 'nice' to customers rather than charging them for everything at every opportunity.0
