Might he perhaps have tried and failed to recover some of his cash out of the dodgy crypto platform directly..... a highly sophisticated and novel concept of a decentralized network server for blockchain-based digital information units tradable within the gspartners.global or GS Trade cryptosystemso completely kosher.

It is transferring cash to Crypto. (Not Bitcoin).
My friend had some Crypto available to deposit into my account. I paid him back with cash.
Tried to transfer the money from NW, so that started the blockage.
I have started with a low investment. I am getting a weekly return, which I can see now, on my GS Partners account page.
I will not put any more money into it. The next stage up is a big investment which I am not willing to do.
There are no "weekly returns". It is a number on a computer. They push a button and the number goes up. There is no actual money.
The best course of action is to explain to Nationwide what happened and that you now know it is a scam, which will hopefully lead them to unblocking the account. I can't really see the point in making a formal complaint at this stage as the delay seems to be on your end so far. And there's certainly no benefit in complaining that the fraud team blocked your account when you were actually being defrauded.
This is quite common in scams of this ilk. Lower-level scammers can get more money by selling their made-up points in their own account directly to their victims, and taking 100% of their money, instead of persuading them to put money into the scheme itself, and taking just a commission.JamesRobinson48 said:I'm left wondering why your friend "had some Crypto available" to deposit in your account, in return for you wiring him some real money. It's just made-up Internet points though, so not worth putting too much thought into.
If the OP tries to convert the "crypto" back into real money, he will probably be told that he needs to put more real money in for "transaction fees" or similar (which he will also never see again).6 -
sounds like with friends like these NW are doing you a favour.5

Well, that escalated quickly. The OP's day just got a whole lot worse.6

Thank you for the link.
NW did not tell me, but it would be on the web page.
My friend did give me several links to check GSP out.
Some of which I discounted, because they were their own websites.
Saying how great they are. Of course they will say that.
From the phone calls I made to NW, I think NW have dragged their heels and maybe only now are looking at my evidence.0 -
You all might be right about this.
My friend told me he is making money from his investment.
I will ask him if he has withdrawn any real money from the investment.0 -
Hardly a surprise that banks strengthen their defences. Now even ambulance chasers jumped on the bandwagon - https://celsolicitors.co.uk/services/push-payment-scams/
We have to thank our beloved regulators (and some other well known people campaigning for this).0 -

My friend told me he is making money from his investment.I will ask him if he has withdrawn any real money from the investment. And if the response is "Yes, I've withdrawn double what I invested and used it to buy my new car" then what? Scammers tend to lie.2 -
Thank your lucky stars it was only £950. Could have been a hell of a lot worse. Sounds like you found out about this just in time.0
