Do smart meters automatically work out the daily amount in ££s?
My smart meter is now showing £3.01 for today, so far.
When people say smart meters go dumb. I originally got my smart meter with Scottish Power in August 2017, I have changed a few times and now back with them.
£3.01 does seem like quite a lot for a summer day, maybe that is normal for a house with three adults?

Combination of gas and electricity? Water heating for showers?0 -
If you have both gas and electricity then around £1 of that will be the standing charges.

The IHD display is £3.01 we may have had 2/3 showers today. Google says - 40p per gas shower.

With the standing charges, 90-110p depending on your region and 120p showers the rest could very easily be made up of background usage, the majority of which will probably be your fridge/freezer.0

Hi,check IHD tariff rates, maybe not been updated with latest price changes.0

Quite a lot of IHDs struggle to account for how solar panels work, they can account for a reduction in direct usage, eg. power drawn from the grid, but not for exports.sevenhills said:

I guess Scottish Power change the rates on the IHD, I have never seen such information.frugalmacdugal said:Hi,check IHD tariff rates, maybe not been updated with latest price changes.

Do smart meters automatically work out the daily amount in ££s?If you cycle the through the buttons on the meter then you can sometimes see the monetary amounts shown in addition to the unit counts and cost.
Often its worth putting the monetary figure to one side and look at the unit count. That is a much better way of working out your use and time of use and can be instrumental in reducing your use if you start working on ways to do that. You posted at 10.24pm. So, that's a near end of day figure. Mine often shows around £3 by mid morning for a house with three adults.

e.g. for a shower, is that a normal shower, a power shower or an electric shower. Normal shower will have very little energy use. A power shower will have a bit of electric use for the pump. An electric shower can be very expensive as its not using the hot water but heating the cold water as you use it.
