Charged for what, you will still have used some electricity.Jefftheref said:Hi all I recently had a solar installation I had a generation of 674kwh in June but have been charged for this by my supplier something seems not right to me0 -
Highly unlikely you'd use all the electricity that you generate even if you have a battery. What do you mean that you've been charged for the electric you generated?Jefftheref said:Hi all I recently had a solar installation I had a generation of 674kwh in June but have been charged for this by my supplier something seems not right to meRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.1 -
Do they mean it's been wired up wrongly and advancing the electricity meter?1

Krakkkers said:Do they mean it's been wired up wrongly and advancing the electricity meter?Probably the setting in the meter. After our panels were installed I noticed our house meter increasing whilst we were exporting. It was a setting in the meter and the export amount was recorded but added to the import figure leading to an increased bill. Our electricity supplier changed the meter rather than change the settings of the old meter. Rather than read the internal figure in the old meter, we agreed an estimated reduction based on the deemed export figure used for the FIT payment.1

As others have said, your post is very short on detail. Have you got a smart meter and has the supplier obtained an export MPAN for it? This MPAN is needed before you can be paid for export.Jefftheref said:Hi all I recently had a solar installation I had a generation of 674kwh in June but have been charged for this by my supplier something seems not right to me
Where has the 674kWh reading come from? To export that amount you would need a sizeable solar array.
What exactly have you been charged for? When solar energy is being produced then the household will get 'first dibs'. If, say, the solar output was 2kW and you turned on a 3kW kettle then only 1kW would be drawn from the Grid. If your solar was generating 5kW and your house load was 2kW, then 3kW would be going to the Grid. It follows that even with solar PV you can expect to draw electricity from the Grid. Without seeing your bill it is impossible for anyone to guess with any certainty what is going on. It is possible that there is a Database error and your Export MPAN, if you have one, has been designated as import.0 -
My 4kwp system produced 573 kwh last month so a 4.7 kwh system could produce that.0
