Just tried to pull money to Tandem from Santander and it worked fine

It used to work fine for me, too, for months on end. Now doesn't any longer because Santander does not show as a linked account for deposits, and it cannot be added.

I like Tandem overall but I also like Chip and I keep switching my funds between Tandem and Chip, via a current account. Until recently, I haven't had technical issues with either but now something odd has crept up in Tandem.

I used to have a Santander current account connected and was pulling in money from Santander, and pay out to Santander. Paying out still works, but pulling money in has suddenly stopped. I cannot reconnect my Santander account. Tandem CS say they have have had problems with Open Banking and I should use Bank Transfer to make deposits. I know I can do that but I much prefer Open Banking. Tandem is generally much slower than Chip, and having to use Bank Transfer makes it even slower.

The other potential problem with Tandem is the 0.35% top up bonus, which lasts for 12 months only. Mine is due to expire in the next few months. I hope they will extend it.

So what do you do once it expires? Checked the faq...

Applying the Top Up doesn’t change the underlying Instant Access Savings Account and customers will still have instant access to their money, won’t need to go through the account opening process again, and will automatically get any changes to the Top Up rate if they’re inside their Top Up period. Once their Top Up period has come to an end, if there’s a Top Up being offered at the time, customers will be able to add the new Top Up to their account.

I'd be fairly sure Tandem will extend the bonus as they will need to if they want to stay anywhere near the top of the savings charts.

I've just opened a Tandem account and funded with £1 to get a feel for it.

I'm happy with the app but I'm not at all happy with the security. Logging into the app requires just my mobile number and then they text me an OTP. The problem with that is that if someone has my phone they have the number and the ability to receive the OTP.

Tandem's blurb says that they have a different login if you enable biometrics on your phone but I already have a fingerprint lock on the phone. I tried face recognition but I've found it very unreliable, and that didn't seem to change the Tandem login either so I'm a bit stumped.
And can then transfer your money out to . . . . one of your linked accounts in your own name 🤷‍♂️
Or potentially add a new linked account that appears to be yours but actually isn't and then transfer the money there instead...
If someone is committing Identity Fraud as well, then that is a whole new ball game!

Been with Tandem for about six months, I too had reservations as app only but they have been faultless great customer service, good rate (an increase wouldn’t go amiss 😉)

simple easy app quick withdrawals and deposits if they fall behind (for me this is about 0.5% difference) I’ll move but up to 0.5% I’ll stick
They just increased to 4.36% this week, which is now the leading rate for easy access accounts.
    Very nice 😎

Thanks so much for all the replies. Yes I do find the login via text code a bit daft, especially since it auto-fills the code now.
I do have my old smart phone, I had a go at replacing the smashed screen and totally succeeded! I could use that and leave it at home.
Another thing is, in "My Accounts" it shows my current account, but says "Consent not provided" and tapping on that or the little question mark does nothing.
Maybe I'll call them tomorrow and ask them about this stuff and maybe if they're planning to use PIN in future.
