So the big question is how long are you going to be away? Rwg/nowmobile allow three months between chargeable events before the sim is restricted to incoming calls only then eventually deactivated.
Most other providers require regular (6 monthly) topups, so you could potentially topup £5 then keep the phone for incoming calls for 6 months. You could probably then topup online from outside the UK. If you only want incoming calls you could potentially order a free sim and not topup at all for 6 months.

Networks that still have inclusive EU roaming usually have a two or three month fair usage limit, but no network will prevent you from roaming for as long as you like, if you are prepared to pay for it.

Good morning 🕶
thank u for all information so far.
1-If I would like a Uk SIM that I can receive Uk calls on what would the best? 2-I’m looking into Asda as mentioned above maybe fair usage of up to 6 months if I understand correctly?
3-Do we need to make a call or 2 in Uk first before going abroad?
4-How long can I receive calls?
5- And anyone know the best deals?
6- I only want to receive calls that’s no need internet. Might look into odd text sent back to Uk but this definitely not the most important aspect. I think that Asda do a deal of 10 pounds per month but really don’t even need that much .Thanks in advance0
