Flight Cancelled

Can I apply for compensation, refund of flight price AND expenses incurred trying to get to destination.
Eastern Airways flight from LGW to NQY on Friday was delayed for 2.5hrs.  Then after that time we were called to a gate to be told the flight was cancelled.  Originally we were advised it was staff sickness that delayed the flight, then at the gate we were advised that there were no landing slots available.  There was no Eastern Airways staff, just local ground handling staff - NO assistance was given - no road transport offered, no hotel offered, no rebooking of flight for the next day.  Went to car hire but no one way car hire was available.  The last resort, as local hotels all full & no train until the next day we booked an Uber to take 4 passengers to Nqy.  This obviously was expensive but the passengers all had to get ‘home’ for various reasons.  My question is, can we claim for expenses as well as compensation and refund of flight ticket?  Thanks

    You are entitled to a refund or rerouting, but not both.

    Comoensation may be payable and you can submit a claim for that. If the airline refuse based on extraordinary circumstances you may consider then whether it's worth challenging.
