Utility provider phones me twice a day for FORMER tenant.

sorry I was under the impression that the utility company were calling about somebody else in which case it is unlikely that the op would have any judgement registered against their name as they do not owe the debtstuhse said:
Id suggest this is not a good way to proceed. If the OP ignores the problem and doesn't correct the wrong contact details, they risk having bad debt against their credit rating and bayliffs knocking at the door...which will give them a far bigger problem to resolve than the simple act of finding out and passing on some contact details.km1500 said:are they calling you on your mobile? if so simply block them0 -
To be a bit clearer, there is an account in my name since I moved in and I do get bills for it its just I have to contact them regularly as they keep putting wrong estimates despite me giving correct and never take direct debit out despite it being set up (for my account not for former tenant)Former tenant has passed away and has no family, he may not even owe this debt as he was in care for over 6 months before he passed and the HA did work in property after he died like put in a new kitchen and bathroom. So this debt is for a totally different account number, actually last year when I first moved here I had a debt collector at my door demanding id and tenancy agreement etc to "prove" I wasn't the person. Also I live in Scotland so no baliffs will be at my door.0

If it came to it, which of course we hope not, it would be Sheriff Officers who are not nice people.dekaspace1 said:Also I live in Scotland so no baliffs will be at my door.
One of our tenants was harassed (although not seriously) by Sheriff Officers looking for a previous tenant at the address.0 -
Dont see anything there giving you a 100% protection from energy company action - on debt or even on meter disconnection - unless in a protected group. But there may have been law changes since written. And cannot see an actual date on the article - which is a concern.

I am in a protected group I think as I was at previous address as I have autism (and mental health issues) but think they are unaware of this as one of their screw ups.
