there used to be something called a second chance offer but even if there is be aware that I think I'm correct in saying that if you have an fvf offer for example 80% off fvf then that will not apply if you sell to a second chance1

Haven't used it myself but I yes I believe the second chance offer is still there but only if the losing bidder has set their preferences to allow receiving them. And yes you won't get any FVF offers applied I don't think0

They are asking me to cancel it, shouldn’t they do it?0

Yes. Don’t you cancel it0

Respond with soemthing like you didn't know how to cancel and contacted ebay who said if the buyer wantsto cancel they need to initiate it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

A buyer can’t cancel a sale, only the seller can. Just go to the transaction, click on end sale and choose the option ‘buyer requested’.
There’s no point in holding out unless you intend to go down the NPB route , and frankly if buyer doesn’t want the item then they can cause issues by returning, or making up a false SNAD that just ties a seller up with time wasting.
Just cancel and get a second chance offer in quickly, assuming you are happy to do so and accept that if this was a private sale listed on a FVF offer day, then you lose that offer. Alternatively cancel sale and relist this coming weekend assuming g they do the normal 2 weekly FVF offers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thank you, I’ve done that but I’m beginning to wonder if it’s worth selling due to the problems with buyers and EVRI.
From where I’m sitting EBay make it very easy for a buyer to back out of their deal.
it took them four days to realise they had no money to pay for it 😡😡😡😡😡0 -

However if I was in grabbing distance of day 4 I’d just overlook their request and wait for it to be cancelled automatically. I’d block them as well .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Just an anecdote but i had what I thought was a NPB this week who gave me what I thought was a story about Paypal - but turned out they paid after all! Took about a week but got paid in the end. So sometimes patience is rewarded.0

It used to baffle me why people bid for items and then either changed their mind or failed to pay, fortunately it's not happened to me often in the 10+ years I've been selling on eBay. I think it's people who bid on multiple items only intending to buy one so spreading their bets or bidding on an item and then seeing another listing for a product that's a lower opening bid or in better condition. I've encountered tactical bidding where someone else is selling an item like mine and they either do a buy it now or make an offer, just to get my listing off.
What I do with all my lots is to message the buyer with an invoice and ask it be settled within 48 hours. I'll message again if it's getting towards the deadline and say I'll extend until the following morning after which time the item will be relisted. It takes no time at all to press the "pay now" button so no need to accept the usual "I'm too busy" excuses IMHO.0
