  • Come in on the back of an Eddie Stobbart wagon, and you will get a passport, house, leather jacket, mobile phone, washing machine, car etc all normally within 24 hours ; )

The £7 service provided by the PO doesn't give preference in turnaround time over an application directly sent.
Personally I wouldn't use the service as it's quite simple to complete a standard passport application, but if you are the type to worry about these things or it's not standard then it may be worth using as a added security measure.
My application in late November took 4 working days without the PO service.

Best way is to go to the passport service online and prefill the form online, they then print it for you and send it to you all filled in and authorised..... all for free !!!!

I filled mine online on the Tuesday, recieved the form on Thursday, signed and sent it back and got the passport by Tuesday ;)..... no queuing in the post office, no extra charges :T

Countersignatory rules are now very relaxed - anyone in public employment can now sign the form and photo.

....... and has known you for 2 years .. and has a British Passport ... and is prepared to note the number on your application (in order they can be sample checked, to the effect they do know you)!

Published turnround time is currently 3 weeks - so that does get you in for early Feb. No interview - as its a renewal. So, as above, prep it through the online sevice tomorrow and they should get it in the post for you to sign etc 27th or 28th. Or they do a fastrack service in 1 week or 2 .. if you consider you're at risk.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
