As asked above, why do you want to be moved from the Safeguard Assist tariff onto the (no cheaper, and potentially more expensive) standard variable rate?SRS007 said:Since I came off my fixed price tariff & chose the standard variable my electricity is now automatically placed onto the Safeguard Assist Tariff because I am on EDF's list of ‘Warm Front Discount’ people..
They have no intension of stopping this & I am forced onto a tariff I do not want. What about the contract i have for the one i chose, can they simply say it was a mistake & walk away?

All of this is now posted in triplicate, word for word including the shouty bits. Nothing has been edited, your threads have simply been merged to keep all of your queries - and background information - in one place.SRS007 said:What i posted today has disappeared, i think admin removed it. It has nothing to do with this old post but admin appears to have attached my 'title' only to the old post about EDF. None of this now makes any sense. I dont know my way around this & dont know what to do. This is what shoudl have appeared as a brand new post separate from the old one. This is not about the prices - its about EDF dictating tome what tariff they want me on. I dont know how to post this up as a new thread again?
I HAVE A CONTRACT DATED 6TH JULY 2023 FOR BOTH GAS & ELEC ON THE STANDARD VARIABLE RATE WITH EDF.
EDF now say that was a mistake & I should not have been given this tariff.
Three times EDF has put my elec on the safeguard assist capped tariff without asking me, telling me, or with my permission.. I find this out when I look at my account on line.
I understand from the ''citizens advice'' that EDF needs to tell me within a reasonable time frame of any changes to my account - they suggest 42 -49 days notice.
The first time I noticed the change was on 18th July 2023.
Since I came off my fixed price tariff & chose the standard variable my electricity is now automatically placed onto the Safeguard Assist Tariff because I am on EDF's list of ‘Warm Front Discount’ people..

Prior to all the price hikes over the last couple of years or so, the safeguard assist tariff was a tariff which was slightly cheaper than the SVT about 2.5% cheaper I think & was to help the most vulnerable, ie. those who were on pension credit who automatically got the WHD.When prices increased although the tariff remained, prices were same as the SVT.This is so when it’s reintroduced those on it will start to pay less immediately. There is no end date & no exit fees, it’s just cheaper.Obviously the OP wants to pay more than they need to but each to their own2
