    EDF change my tariff without my consent.  How can i stop them doing this?
    So, from the details in your other thread..... They didn't change it without your consent.

     I HAVE A CONTRACT DATED 6TH JULY 2023 FOR BOTH GAS & ELEC ON THE STANDARD VARIABLE RATE WITH EDF.
    EDF now say that was a mistake & I should not have been given this tariff.

     Three times EDF has put my elec on the safeguard assist capped tariff without asking me, telling me, or with my permission..  I find this out when I look at my account on line.
    I understand from the ''citizens advice'' that EDF needs to tell me within a reasonable time frame of any changes to my account - they suggest 42 -49 days notice.

    The first time I noticed the change  was on 18th July 2023.

    Since I came off my fixed price tariff & chose the standard variable my electricity is  now automatically placed onto the Safeguard Assist Tariff because I am on EDF's list of ‘Warm Front Discount’ people..

    They have no intension of stopping this & I am forced onto a tariff I do not want.  What about the contract i have for the one i chose, can they simply say it was a mistake & walk away?

    Is the "Safeguard Assist Tariff" more expensive that the standard variable tariff, or does it have penalties of some sort that the variable doesn't?  Why do you so adamantly not want to be on it?

    A "reasonable time frame" is understood to mean "sufficient time to switch" - which is not 42-49 days notice, usually 7 days would be considered reasonable.

    @SRS007

    They have not edited any of your posts, they have just combined your two threads on the same subject. Use the same thread, this one, and respond to the questions you have been asked and we will be able to explain.

    They are not the same problem.   This is what should appear.  I dont know how to use this forum really but they are not the same post from my point of view.       I HAVE A CONTRACT DATED 6TH JULY 2023 FOR BOTH GAS & ELEC ON THE STANDARD VARIABLE RATE WITH EDF.

    It is the Warm Home Discount, there are additional criteria to be put on the Safeguard tariffs, but it is cheaper than the SVT.

    What exactly do you want them to stop doing? You want them to take you off a tariff that you are eligible for (Safeguard) and put you onto a more expensive tariff (SVT)?

    What i posted today has disappeared, i think admin removed it.  It has nothing to do with this old post but admin appears to have attached my 'title' only to the old post about EDF.  None of this now makes any sense.  I dont know my way around this & dont know what to do.  This is what shoudl have appeared as a brand new post separate from the old one. This is not about the prices - its about EDF dictating tome what tariff they want me on.  I dont know how to post this up as a new thread again?

    Citizens Advice is wrong. The 42- 49 days notification was linked to fixed tariffs with exit fees in the days when switching could take up to 35 days. If a consumer initiated a switch after the 42 - 49 days notice was received, the consumer could switch suppliers without incurring an exit fee. With faster (5 day) switching the 42 - 49 day requirement has been dropped from the Supply Licence.
