My husband is allergic, so it is essential for us to use only hyperallergenic and washable pillows. I found good ones at the MyPillow last year. And mypillow customer service turned out to be helpful. Just love this pillow, never changes size, is washable, and goes back to its original shape.

Never wash our pillows, just buy cheap ones, use pillow protectors which get washed in Persil Professional Hygiene and chuck the pillows out every 6 months or so.

I'm a bit staggered that anyone would be this wasteful, that rather than having washable pillows they're just binned.

Why are you bothering with the protectors if you replace them this frequently!?

I made draught excluders for my doors using the legs of old cord trousers and using the stuffing from my old pillows. At least it gave them a second lease of life before they needed throwing out.
Brilliant recommendation, now I know what to do with my worn jeans as well as old pillows!

My only concern is that if left lying around they may become a trip hazard.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

Cheap ones will flatten and be crap after a while. Which is why I prefer good feather and down pillows and use TWO protectors , one strong one to keep the feathers from jagging, then a lighter one which is sweat resistant. Still wash the pillows if we have a good spell of hot dry weather

Like poohsticks et al I also double bag pillows.  I also have lots of pillows having moved from a 5 bed to a 3 bed that only effectively has 2.  If I could just grab & throw away DSs & replace I would be in seventh heaven.  I thought I'd got his old bathrobe this morning, epic fail.

Husband has bad allergies and was recently diagnosed with Chronic Bronchitis. As someone mentioned earlier, not all pillows are washable.

Yes, I admit that it does seem wasteful but the allergies trigger the bronchitis flare ups.

We do a lot of other things that are eco-friendly !
