weenancyinAmerica said:@Gers - Have you considered asking the Imperial War Museum or Eden Camp in Pickering if they would like a photocopy of the diary? Or possibly willing it to the Imperial War Museum if no one in your family will look after it?All my mother's diaries and letters (and much more) are lodged with the University of Glasgow's (where she worked for almost 30 years) special collections archive. It will be used in some PhD research or similar. I have scanned digital copies of everything, which is two archive boxes full. She kept almost every single piece of paper which went through her hands, from her swimming certificate aged 9 years old onward. In addition she was German which makes the material fascinating. One of nephews had one German grandmother and one English one who worked in the munitions factory during WW2!10

Gers - That is wonderful. I collect material on the Home Front in World War II. Now trying to get it where it would be most useful. Some I have already sent back to England and some has gone to a World War II Museum here in the US. But I have much more to be sorted. I use it in research and then pass it along.8
