Cancellation of flight but not informed by booking agent

Options
Hello.
Could the forum offer any insight to where I can go next?

I booked a flight to Australia with TRAVEL JUNCTION who then used CATHAY PACIFIC as the airline.
Long story cut short, CATHAY then cancelled the flight and Travel Junction did NOT inform me of said cancellation. It was only by my due diligence, checking 7 days before the flight, that I found out.
Furious conversations with a Travel junction operative, and we got a new flight to Australia, again with CATHAY. It was however, 5 days Earlier than the original departure. This incurred extra Holiday insurance, accommodation, and general inconvenience. To top it all, Travel Junction requested  £600 in " Airport Taxes". I refused paying, stating that I had not received notification, and it suddenly went to £350, which I begrudgingly paid.

I complained to CATHAY PACIFIC directly, and received no joy, however a goodwill gesture of 12000 Asia miles were given.

My Question is this: What can I claim from TRAVEL JUNCTION as in way of compensation?
This all happened early November 2022.

Many thanks for reading

Taxes do not change just because the flight does, so that appears to be a complete con, so there is £350 to start with. I would check with the airline to see when the flight was cancelled, was it 7 days before departure, if so then you are entitled to £520 compensation from them as well, although that is not the way they work so I suspect it was months before if it was cancelled at all.

It could be Travel Junction just forgot to ticket the booking in time and the low fare you booked was no longer available and that would explain the extra 'airport taxes'. It is up to you to decide how much to claim, perhaps £500 if that seems reasonable to you, they are members of ABTA according to their website so, if all else fails. you could consider using their arbitration scheme
