Hello all, I was woken earlier by some workmen banging and clanging about next door. I felt really down yesterday morning so I apologise if that came across in my post.
I didn't get around to mowing the lawns yesterday, the rain beat me to it. Instead I went in the shed to help Mr Fix It build the gate out of the leftover fence panel and when it eased I removed most of the blackcurrant bush which was will be in the way of it opening. The roots still wait to be dug out but the fruit is now in the freezer instead of bird's tummies as they usually beat me to it.
The gate is ready to go up today but it's raining again and it feels quite cold, so it will wait. I shall potter around this morning till this afternoon when DGD arrives from school for her tea. If it's still raining I'll go and meet her with a brolly, there's no sense in her getting soaked.
taff don't know about a trip in the charabanc, last Sunday I could have happily run him over with it !! 😂
Scarlet thanks Dad is ok, it's us that he upsets then walks away 😠
Floss good luck for today, the kettle is already on and the cakes are at the ready.
RedRuby good job the security lights came on ! Why can't people keep their hands off other people's property.
Peony hope your Dad will be ok and you can get some sleep.
Gers I never mastered front crawl, only breaststroke and I panic if out of my depth 😲 Have a good swim.
London 1 hope you get a phone call today and that Mum and baby are well.
Take care all, hugs to anyone in need.

Morning..dull and drizzly here. All the better for indoor jobs and shopping which are the main thrust of today. I am on a plant swap today, some of my veg ones for some bamboo that needs splitting and potting. And then I go back to upstairs and the next great chuck out. Collating all the cardboard boxes would help I expect, you know, you keep them from electrical or whatever things in case you need to pack them away and then you don't use them and they take up lots of room in the meantime. OHs mum asked if I wanted to go to Costco on Thursday so that's booked in, it's fine, I can get cheaper diesel too as well as some things to take to Italy.Gers, happy training! Ruby, there was a spate of that here but they were cutting them off in car parks and all sorts. Hope he doesn't come back. snoozer, don't foget that children are germ buckets so you might be catching it off them bella, get out and treat yourself to a cuppa or something... take care all...Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...12

Morning everyone
Bit dull and windy here this morning - I have my old clothes I had on for painting out on the life. It was meant to be sports day this afternoon but it's been cancelled as we're forecast thunder and lightning this afternoon. Our littlies only go on the field for one race so it doesn't really make much difference for our afternoon plans - they always get an ice lolly as a treat afterwards.
DD and little one are home now - I'll see them later today.
I finally finished painting the chairs last night, but there must be a cat going round with a blue patch on it's fur as something's sat on one of them during the night! It's on the one that goes right at the bottom of the garden so it can stay as it is for now as I've washed my brush. If it annoys me too much I'll go over it again.
I've some jobs to do this morning then down to work at lunchtime.
Izzy I've often wished I could swim too...I'm scared of putting my face under. I used to go in with the girls when they were little but never liked it.
I'm going to get on...hope everyone has a good day x
Oh Snoozer hope you're feeling better today x13 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers - enjoy the swim. I'm not a confident swimmer at all but like you @IzzyBee I made sure my 3 children had lessons - expensive but worth it.
Welcome @mucky_moo
Hope your DDad is okay @peony40 and that you're able to get away x
Have fun shopping @iris x
Shame about the IOW weather @London_1 (Jackie) but nice to have some visitors today x Please send baby new when you have it!
Get well soon @snoozer x
Hope all goes well today @Floss - some great advice from others on here. Rest up and take it easy x
I'm WFH today and we have DS1's pup. He is snoozing VERY LOUDLY atm - he's a bulldog - nuff said. Dinner tonight is a SW recipe of burger in a bowl. I'm trying a few new recipes again this week as I'm slightly outside of my target, so need to rein things in a bit.
Some washing to do now that DDad has gone back to DSis's for the week. Will also dust and vacuum around downstairs - no bosses today so very little actual work to do.
Have a good day all
Coxy

My swim was lovely though I spent most of my time helping my friend. All the comments about being scared of water are so sad as it's the best place to be for gentle exercise which is non-weight bearing. I blame all the bad teachers in the past. Putting ones face in the water is fundamental to swimming properly as a raised head will send the body down. I could rant for days about this...but won't!My towels and costume are now hanging up after having a quick rinse in the WM.Izzy - what a kind colleague you have, free veggies is brilliant.Scarlet - I hope that you're well.Iris - are your cupboards filled up now?TA - I've probably missed you, perhaps Sparkle has complied and been a good cat for a change. It's lovely to hear of your catch up yesterday though hard to believe it was March when you last got together.SuffolkSue - enjoy the family.Camelot - well done! And how splendid to have the neighbour going to the King's garden party, I hope that the weather stays kind.Jackie - that's just rubbish, bad weather is a pain at home but on holiday it's worse. I know that you'll all have a good time together anyway.Peony - a wee break will really do you good.Ruby - that's shocking, and scary! You do right to have more cameras installed, hopefully the new ones will catch the faces of them.Snoozer - sorry that you feel so dreadful.Bella - I know what you mean about the weather. Here, the early rain has dried up so I'm hopeful of a good'ish day.DP1 - your little one is still full of funnies. And going to reception too, what a little fighter she is. I'm now giggling at a blue tinged cat.Taff - I long gave up keeping cardboard boxes. My DM was a fiend for it, she loved a box, perhaps she was a cat in a previous life.My wardrobe has been almost emptied. I had kept too much stuff but it was mostly useless. Mind you, all it has now are two dresses, two jackets (one which should go but isn't) and a pile of T-shirts. The warm thick jacket was bought from Hawkshead many many years go, one of their 'Snow' range. Seems that they have now been taken over by Regatta and the selection much reduced. I'm keeping it for the next hard winter. As for the other one, it was a work jacket which is again too big for me, it reminds me of some good times. It'll probably go out in my next cull but can't be sent to CS as it's branded.Today's joy has been winning £200 from my Premium Bonds, I feel a wee spend coming up.I hope that everyone is doing well, it's so lovely to read back this morning.13

Hello all.I went in town early to sort out a banking issue, but I have to ring up, will do that after lunch.Gers ooh well done on the win!I can swim, breast stroke mainly, not good at crawl, perhaps I should take some goggles if I go tomorrow & dip my head under- but then my hair would be wet through needing shampooing and the dryers aren't brilliant I thought I was going to drown a few years ago- went in the Atlantic sea in France, it was calm when we went in but a wind got up & the current was so strong it was carrying me out.Even DH struggled to get back to me, but I was pushing up with all my might off the sea floor to get a breath with waves washing over my head, managed to shout 'au secours' and 2 French men came and pulled me out knights in shining armour swimming trunks.Hope you get away Peony & your DDad is ok.Mucky-moo, would you be able to meet up with a nursery friend of DD in school hols perhaps? I hope home school works out well though.Taff didnt realise you had another Italian trip plannedFloss hope today goes well.Snoozer hope you feel better soon, I always catch whatever lurgy the DGC get.RR. we also had a spate of CC thefts round here, seems to have eased off now though.Coxy, I can empathise with a snoring dog, ours does too and being a massive mastiff, it's loud, very loudI think we'll have salmon for tea, I have those you can cook from frozen, very handy when you forget to take something out. I made some low carb seed crackers yesterday so fancy some with cheese or pate for lunch. It's lovely to see more posts but more for me to mention & I can't remember by the time I've typed a bit, sorry but send hugs where needed. Have a good day if you can x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)13

Gers, good of you to teach her though. I'm not sure why but I used to swim like a fish but the last couple fo times I went I forgot how to breathe during the crawl. Going to have to wrok on that..Congrats on premium win! Rosy, yep, hoping this time it won't be as much working and definitely more playing. Can you believe we only had ice cream twice when we were there? Very remiss...And well done on speaking another language! Difficult to remember when you're in difficulty but you triumphed! Coxy, have you seen those ones where they make a mince smash together with herbs n stuff, then spread it on a flatbread or simiar and fry that, then roll up with some salady stuff..seems easy, maybe turkey or chicken mince would work? dp1, I did laugh at the blue bum cat nanny, never apologise for feeling down, this is not the thread of eternal happiness, you're allowed to say you're struggling if you are, that's another thing we're here for, moral support. Although it may be time to have a think about your father and how you react to him when he's being a knoboh and change of plan today, I've now decided I'll enjoy doing some cooking more, so I'm making a chcicken and leek pie with a sliced potato topping and sring greens for tonight and makng a big vat of bolognese sauce for lasagne for the freezer. In my defence, I have potatoes to use up and I've done a lot fo gardening this week..In my pre diabetic no defence, I'll be keto'ing it up in a few days time, hopefully, anyway...Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...8

No wonder you're not keen. I'm always wary of being in the sea. My friend does wild swimming but it's not for me. As I told Camelot, I don't want to swim through fish poo.I've been up to see my elderly neighbour for a chin wag. I told him some single malt which he pounced on, so nice to see.7
