Flight delay with 2 months' notice

Hi All,

Two months in advance of my trip, Easyjet's notified me of a change to my early morning flight time. They've given the reason as "a result of an aircraft change".

It'll now depart over 4 hours later, meaning I'd miss my appointment, so I'll need to find a different flight -- probably with a different airline and/or traveling the previous day (so added expense of hotel etc).   

I understand that EU261 compensation doesn't apply as they've given so much advance notice, but what are my rights please?   E.g. can I ask for my money back?  Do they have any other obligations to me? 

It feels a little unfair that they can make this kind of change, but I wouldn't have been able to change my flight plans without penalties.

    It’s not a flight delay. Your flight has had a scheduling change.

    Check the EasyJet website for details on their refund policy for rescheduled flights. I thought it was 5 hours but not sure for certain.

    Thank-you, @Westin and @onashoestring.   Yes, Easyjet defines a 'significant' change as being >5h unfortunately.

    I would still try to contact Easyjet and see if they are prepared to do anything.  Even a voucher for travel at a later date would be better than nothing. 
    Easy to be wise after the event, but changes to flight times are extremely common particularly if booked a long way in advance.  How much spare time had you built into your original plans.  What was your expected flight arrival time and when was the meeting?

    I suppose you're right, but it's annoying to have to waste the previous evening just to factor-in the possibility of such delays.
