Samsung phone camera puzzle

Still trying to get to grips with the camera on my galaxy A14. More often than not, when I go take a photo, the "button" that you tap to take it turns red and nothing happens. Sometimes though it works first time. This never happened with my previous phone (Motorola G7). What's going on? Is it me?
ETA - I can't find any basic "how to work the camera for dummies" type instructions online. Am I looking in the wrong places?

When you say button- is that button white, or white with a red circle? The former is for taking photos and the latter is for recording video.
(I have an older samsung and am assuming the buttons are the same within the Samsung camera app)
The manual is here:

There are also guides on YouTube1 -
It's white. Not the one for videos. Sometimes it changes to red (i.e. completely red) when I try to take a picture and it won't let me. Nothing happens. Could it be that for some reason it can't focus? The guides don't mention this, and the Youtube things I've watched seem to concentrate on making the camera do tricks that I have no interest in!KxMx said:When you say button- is that button white, or white with a red circle? We're all doomed0 -

Try the solutions on here1 -
I've seen that all red button on my Galaxy A14 when there was not enough light and I had the flash turned off. It's simply an indication that it's unable to take a photo with your current settings, that could be the flash like me or some other setting.Try setting the flash to 'Auto' to see if that is the issue.2
