We live in a through mid terrace circa 1910. Ours as has the front door into the living room, but next door on both sides still has the hallway. The ones to one side of them don't, the other side does. I'd guess it's about 50/50 down our street of the houses I've seen. The walls that form the hall on the side to the living room are stud walls on my immediate neighbours.

We had our flooring completely re done a few years ago and you could see from the floor boards that there had been a stud wall there at some point. I'd prefer the hall tbh, as we lay out our furniture pretty much as if there was a hall way, other than the radiator is on the party wall so that it would be in the hall if we had one. Our house was like this when we bought it in 1995.
