I'm trying to pre-book Gatwick short stay parking at north terminal to pickup up a friend. The charge should be arouind £8 for an hour but they encourage pre-booking and it should be a little cheaper.

When I try to book the charge is £43 for 1 hour !!!

Here is my booking link for
Entry: Tue 04 Jul - 02:00
Exit: Tue 04 Jul - 03:00

Risky booking this, if they are late coming out it will cost you...

Incidentally when I took a wrong turning on the way to long stay, to avoid the £5 drop off lane I found you can drive through short stay free as long as it takes less than 15 mins.    I saw the car ahead of me pick their friend up as they went through :-)

Free approved option is pick up on long stay.  2 hours free parking there.

Pre-booking is really only designed for people using it for longer stays, so that’s likely the cost for a whole 24 hours.

I posted about this last year. Seems Gatwick Airport Ltd are still trying to catch people out.

No need to book short term parking. Just enter when you want and pay on departure for time stayed.

We’ve done the free collection from Gatwick a few times in the past year , park in long stay  once you know plane has landed text bus stop number to your passengers and meet them from the shuttle bus. It’s a great service , although we tend to try and time our arrival to just after the plane lands in case passengers have trouble collecting their luggage .

Although on one occasion they phoned to say the plane was just leaving, we timed our arrival at airport for their arrival time plus about half an hour , and they phoned to say they were walking to the terminal  bus stop before we even got to the car park as they had got their luggage and were through the terminal in about 30 minutes!

Really. Isn't that just typical of the UK.

The airport is now owned and operated by US based, hedge fund business, Global Infrastructure Partners and the French based Vinci Airports.  Foreign ownerships.
