Which plants, for a large planter?

You will have seen the type of planter, large square plastic one that they have in shopping areas.
Presently they contain mostly ever greens. The wrong thing, I believe. They are very low maintenance, but I want more colour.
A few geraniums in the middle, surrounded by pansies perhaps?

A few small plants in a huge planter will look like peas on a drum.
A big planter needs a backbone of large plants - although you could add a few small trailing plants round the edge.0 -
What about several different euphorbia? They are evergreen, grow easily and come in a range of colours. eg E. tasmanian tiger or E. Ascot rainbow to name just 2.0

Keep the evergreens, add geraniums or cosmos or something that flowers all summer around the outside.
Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...0 -

These style of planters are ideal for planting herbs in, easy to look after and pick as when needed.

My large planters have an apple tree, a pear tree and assorted fruit bushes. 2 smaller ones have tall fuchsias, they look wonderful. I have 4 pots with rose bushes, all scented varieties.Smallest ones have herbs, they are growing like weeds with the sunny weather. I have different varieties of mint, I use a lot of it in the summer. There are varieties of clematis which are designed to be grown in pots. I have a red one, a white one and a purple one (cant remember the names) which will be brown in a large pot, I’m working on it at the moment.2

Are you thinking geranium or pelargonium? If the latter, you would need to be prepared to replant every year.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
