Cancellation Question

I am going through the annual dance of trying to get a better price . Currently £70 rising to 87 when my contract ends in July . (250 internet , mix tv and talk weekends phone)
Best they can do on the phone and bot is 65.
Never had the bottle to actually to end my contract and wait for them to make a better offer .
My question is simple , if I give them notice to quit can I stop the process before my end of contract date or if you fire the bullet is that final .

    Who is "them" exactly?

And you have 14 days cooling off.  So if you are with Dalek internet and put the request to swap to Cyberman internet but Dalek call you back with a better offer, you can call Cyberman and say please cancel.

Okay so what I said about cooling off still applies but it works differently from Virgin to somebody else.
https://www.cable.co.uk/providers/guides/switch-virgin-media-bt/ might be of interest.  This would apply to any landline based ISP, not just BT.

However you'll find with Virgin your notice period is 30 days at least as the cooling off would apply only to your new provider.  You could probably cancel your Virgin and then phone them up to uncancel it if you think it'll get you a better deal but not guaranteed.

You can go whenever you want.  Early exit fees will apply.

The exception may be if your problem is speed related:
https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/advice/broadband-speeds-code-practice - "f your service doesn’t deliver the speeds you were promised by your provider, get in touch with them. If the problem is on their network and they can’t fix it within 30 days, they must let you leave your contract without having to pay an early exit fee."

Otherwise it may depends on what the "problems" are.
