Two stopping fines at Leeds Bradford airport

Hi, I’m looking for some advice on this one, as to be honest I feel like I’m pretty much bang to rights. I dropped my wife at Leeds Bradford airport for a business trip, which I’ve never driven to before. I thought it was free to drop off, but on driving in saw barriers to the short stay zone. Thinking I could just drop her at the roadside and exit without going through the barriers i dropped her there, then realised there was no way out other than driving through, so did so and had to pay the £6 charge for spending all of 10 seconds in the short stay zone. Couple of days later I went to pick her up and having noticed a free one hour are in the mid stay zone, intended to drive there. However I approached the airport from a different direction and didn’t know there were 2 mid stay zones (one being signposted on the same turning as the short stay), so ended up turning into the exact same road and once again got to those same barriers! I stopped for 30 seconds to think about what to do, then ended up driving through the barriers, buzzing for assistance and explained I’d taken a wrong turn - to be fair he let me out straight away. Now I’ve been landed with 2 £100/£60 charges for stopping. Thing is, the first one shows my wife getting out of the car with her case and the second was only 2 days later so I can’t really plead ignorance - the signage is very clear. I’ve successfully defended several of these scam PCNs in the past so I’m not exactly a newbie, but in every instance there’s been a good defendable reason for the appeal. I feel like if this went to court, there’s a good chance I’d lose due to the above - to be honest I was a bit of an idiot. What’s your thoughts?

Presumably these are parking charges you have received?
But you didn't do any parking.1 -
No-one pays these:

Which parking firm? VCS?
LeedsBradford Airport have been good at dealing with complaints about VCS recently, if it's them:

More complaints are needed. The owners need to hear the anger of Airport users about scam PPCs.
Obviously for the one where you took a wrong turn there was no parking, as Keith pointed out. There was NO REASONABLE CAUSE to get your data for that one in the first place. The DVLA data was obtained under false pretences.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

How can you be "bang to rights" if didn't realise you had to pay, the signage at this scam trap can't have been very clear.

Hi, yes it’s VCS. The notices are titled ‘charge notice’ rather than parking charge notice, for reference. I’ve contacted the airport as a first step and will see where that gets me, thanks for the info and links, much appreciated,0

There is no appeal; it is a shoddy self-serving farce run by and on behalf of the parking industry themselves.
And we hope you are coming back in 3 or 4 weeks to join us all for the DLUHC's final public consultation, to get the new law over the line, at last?

Great!
Thought it might.
Now please help us win the war, rather than just single battles. Change is just around the corner - statutory rules are coming.

Hello
Last week I did the same as @Paul-T951 did. I was picking up a passenger on a rainy day with limited visibility, i was following a large vehicle, turned right into the Airport Access road, my passenger was there waiting so i pulled in just past the Mid Stay entry area, threw her bag in the boot, she got in and I set back off. The engine was still running and I didnt obstruct anyone. I then realised i was in a controlled zone, saw the signs and double red lines etc. I had to enter the Pick up and drop off area, paid £7 charge to drive straight through.
I reviewed Google Maps streetview and there is a sign on the corner that i genuinely didnt see due to large vehicle and poor weather conditions.
Do I have any recourse please ? I noted that @Paul-T951 didnt think he had but on contacting the airport they cancelled the charge notice.
Im new to this, but have read the newbies area so will also ask the Airport if they can assist me firstly.
Please anyone advise me what else I can/should do.
Thanks in advance
