For any given contract, any or all the subscribing companies can bid for the job. They are free to bid what they like, so markedly different from using say DHL who charge strictly on a known basis of weight, volume and destination which the client can calculate for themselves. So if a shipper happens to have an empty vehicle returning from a paid job any fee is all profit, they can afford to bid low and win the contract. That is the claimed benefit of this system to the client.
Say you auction something on eBay. You will get a variety of bids. On the last day you realise an error in the listing so you pull the auction then re-post it the next day. You will get a different variety of bids and bidders and the final bid could be higher or lower than the earlier, quite separate, auction.

None of us know what happened to the costs of the removal company - this was a last minute change to a pre-arranged collection. Or even if it was the same company doing the pickup.
