When the postie spams you with the unsolicited stuff, you could return it using your nearest postbox, let them have their litter back. It won’t change anything (we’d need a national effort for that) but you might get some satisfaction.

Yep that's what I currently do to keep some semblance of sanity 😁

Have you also put a note on your letter box 'I am opted out from unaddressed mail'?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I don't value complacency, that's not who I am or could ever be. I take action to achieve an effect. if it causes hassle for the person collecting from that postbox then it's up to them to make a note of it and let the higher ups know. Out of all the options I have of what to do with it, this option is low cost and has some effect on royal mail. if they want to resolve it, it's up to them to pay attention. 1 bundle of leaflets that looks like the bundles they stick through people's doors is a pretty clear connection as far as I'm concerned. they don't respect the customer who has clearly opted out, and complained numerous times, they deserve to have a hard time too. If I could get free envelopes, then I would much prefer to stuff the leaflets in envelopes and continually send them to the freepost address for opting out, with my address included. until they get the message. but I don't know if there's a way to get free envelopes to do that.

Have you also put a note on your letter box 'I am opted out from unaddressed mail'?

unfortunately, they ignore anything on the letterbox. I have a big red sticker directly on the flap that says "no junk mail".

Ok, one very specific potential outcome of my decision, defined by you as a worst case scenario, achieves nothing.

Every single  outcome of your decision achieves nothing. I like my odds better.

Please stop suggesting apathy as a solution to problems.

I'll refer you to my earlier post responding to specifically that.

I know it shouldn't happen but why do you let it 'cause you distress'; why do you choose to waste your time and money on it.
I grab my mail, throw the junk in the bin and open the stuff that is relevant.
Total time on my part is only a few seconds.
I am opted out, still get the junk mail, some via the postman and others through 'mail box stuffers'. Like you I should not get it but the inconvenience borders on virtually nil and really is not worth stressing over.

I'm not sure if it's some form of ADHD or Autism or something else, I'm still waiting to see someone to get a diagnosis.

To be honest, the blasé attitude towards it is a real problem in my opinion. resources and energy go into producing this useless junk and then recycling it. This process causes pollution. it has literally no positive effect on the world and it puts extra CO2 into our atmosphere. I've told RM clearly that I do not want it. I do not read it, it causes zero positive effect and damages our climate. The whole concept that anyone is just taking the attitude "it's not a problem I'll just ignore it and continue the cycle" is a little sickening to me, when there's massive flooding and heatwaves and wildfires the likes of which we've never seen.

    STOP PERPETUATING THIS.
