Thanks, that shows FileAccessdate and FileChangedate all as yesterday around 14:45, and they emailed me around 16:00. There doesn't seem to be a creation date in the metadata
At a guess, they will know this can be done  so either remove or make sure that info isn't recorded.

    EDIT
Does the photos you took have that info?
So, I was thinking the same thought as you. I checked one of my images at the link you sent. It comes back with the create date embedded in, along with lot's of other info. I emailed it to myself to see if that might cause a loss of EXIF data and it didn't. The image they sent me clearly doesn't have the create date embedded. I smell a scam here.

If there is no metadata, what is in the background of the photo, anything that shows it was not taken outside your property by the collection driver at the time of collection.

I would go back to them and ask for a copy of the photo without the metadata removed. If they can't / won't then ask how they intend to prove the photo's were taken when they said they were against your metadata stamped photo's and the collection driver not notifying you of any damage when collected.

Thank you. No, there is nothing in the background, it's a closeup. I have just written to them asking for the image to be sent again, and containing all the EXIF data to be clear on the time it was taken. And depending on their response to that, I'll ask how they plan to prove it was taken when they say it was.

I remember going around the vehicle with the pick up guy, and that scratch was def not there. We looked at the document that showed old damage, and it wasn't there, nor did he notice any new damage. Sadly, this can't be proven though.

Presumably you noticed whether the pick up guy actually took any photos when you went around the vehicle with him?
  • Nationwide Vehicle Hire. Also masquerading  aa SDVH.

Hired a self-drivr vehicle recovery transporter from them from 10-30 am on the 8th Oct  to 10-30am on the 9th.
The vehicle was delivered on the 7th when nobody was home & left in the backstreet causing an obstruction for our neighbours. So had to be moved.
I rang to complain about the early delivery and attempted to make sure we wouldn't be charged again. Ignored!
Also complained that the vehicle was unfit for purpose, the loadbed's flat section being barely 10feet long & not suitable for the medium sized car they claim.
In addition no operator's instructions were left for use of the winch etc.
Several phone calls and an email all ignored.
Rang them to come and collect the vehicle at the end of the rental on the 9th.
Passed to Budget in London, who then gave me the number for Notts Vehicle Hire.
Spoke to them, told them where it was parked & asked them to collect it.
The man said they would call me 24 hours in advance of collection & I should tell them, not him, where it is parked & where the keys could be collected. And that they have a 3 day collection.schedule.
Went about my business, then  later that same day received a message to say there has been a failed attempt to collect the vehicle.
Rang up to say no-one had phoned, emailed, texted or turned up at the house.
     Again, totally ignored.
Called the bank because I had a bad feeling about this. They checked through my payments yo find these people had set up a recurring payment, which the bank immediately cancelled.
The 10th comes around. Very busy day for me, punctuated by a mass of phone calls tagged by my phone as "suspected spam".
I1th 9-30 am. Irate South African woman asking why I had ignored all her previous calls, and why had I been using the vehicle beyond the rental period. Pointing out it had a tracker fitted and has several locations logged.
I told her I'd no idea what she was talking about and that the vehicle had been moved to a different location because it caused an obstruction, which she went ballistic about. Went on to tell her the keys were in the front garden wrapped in bubble wrap beneath an upturned plant pot (as they suggest).
"So somebody could have been using the vehicle without your knowledge?"
      For all I know, yes.
To which she insisted that I go out immediately to retrieve the keys and put them in an even less safe position at the top of the driver's side road spring & they would be along to collect within the hour.
As I pointed out to her, once the rental period has ended & collection has been requested what happens to the vehicle is entirely their business, not mine.
I immediately called Notts And reminded them where the vehicle was & the keys.
Went out. Returned two hours later & made a detour to find the vehicle had gone.
Thirty minutes later invoices began coming in.
    1. Removing blood from the vehicle: £150 +vat
    2. Abortive Collection: £250 + vat
    3. Extension £412 + vat
     . 3a insurance £25 + vat
Immediately rang the bank. They were amazed at the audacity & generally lost for words. A quick double check by them to ensure the recurring payments had been stopped & the advice given to ignore them.
       Caveat emptor
Or better still avoid like the plague.

    Going to be fun.
As if payments authorised they will still debit. If disputed then they can be rejected by hire firm. Or if they don't they will go legal to reclaim the money owed.

    Hmm..
Thread necrophilia aside, I presume we're talking about this SDVH?
    https://sdvh.co.uk/
That just screams scam site to me, especially if you start to dig - for a start, the alleged "company number" doesn't exist, and there's no actual company name anywhere.
SDVH Ltd ("other transportation support activities") was wound up a decade ago.

Nationwide Vehicle Hire don't seem to list car transporter trucks on their site, but are legit, and a 3.5t car transporter is VERY close to weight limits on anything other than small/light cars, hence shorter beds. A 3.3m bed should be enough for just about anything that won't put it overweight. What were you trying to transport?
