If there was no activity for three years and the account was temporarily blocked, they'd contact before closing it right?

It would be a further 12 years before it was closed. And they would try to contact before then if there were funds in there.

I'm just in the process of emptying all Marcus accounts as they never have good rates any more.

Just setup a standing order to deposit 1p every 12 months, which should keep it open indefinitely. Not worth closing it, for the sake of a few clicks. Marcus may come roaring back with top rates in the future. Unlikely for now, of course, but you never know.

Probably going to use mine as a short term "put it by" pot for something I'm going to buy in the near future, but not for serious mid-to-long term savings.

I have £34.69 interest lurking in my Marcus account. I will reduce to £1 balance after next interest payment, that's an activity :-)

Currently got £2 in Marcus. Like the account, very fast transfers between Marcus and my Santander current account. But ultimately they're lagging behind other easy access accounts. Need to be at least 4%, if not more.

On my next interest date I`m withdrawing the lot and they can do what they like.
    Their rates are uncompetitive anyway.
Their habit of raising rates just before the BoE meetings fools no one.
They are virtually a month behind each time they increase.

Re Marcus - I'm keeping it for easy access to a small pot of monies.  It may not be competitive but I like having it. I have other accounts to maximise interest.

I shall add 1p to mine once every 2 years and 51 weeks. Who's laughing now, "Marcus"?

I get 1p interest on my £1.35 every couple of months, unclear if that classes it as active or not.
