How to not feel stupid for losing money

A band me and my mate wanted to see announced a tour for the back end of the year, all week my mate has been texting me asking me to get tickets and I replied saying would he go if I got them and he said yes.
Yesterday I managed to get tickets but when I told my mate he said he actually couldn’t afford it so couldn’t go. I don’t know anyone else apart from him who likes this band so I decided to resell them at face value on Twickets. They resold in 30 minutes but only then did I find out I will only receive my money AFTER the concert.
How do I not feel so stupid for essentially throwing away £150? I know I should have waited for my mate to send me the money before buying them but in the past he’s always sent me the money immediately after I’ve bought them so I felt no need to not question he’d do so again this time.

You have not thrown away £150, you have just tied it up for a few months, you still get the money back.MikeL93 said:A band me and my mate wanted to see announced a tour for the back end of the year, all week my mate has been texting me asking me to get tickets and I replied saying would he go if I got them and he said yes.

I would question whether this "friend" actually is one, they seem to have expected you to pay for them to go.5 -
Some mate🤨
I would be honest with your mate and explain that they put you in a really difficult situation.
But as above least you will recover your costs1 -
Financially you are not in any a different situation than if you were going to the concert.
But you will be due your money back after it, which you wouldn't have if you went to the concert.1 -
It just means you'll get a lovely £150 just before Christmas. You haven't lost anything!
But you have lost a friend, because friends wouldn't do that. That's a really crappy friend you have. I suggest finding a better friend.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)1 -
After speaking to my girlfriend about it this morning she's explained practically the same thing to me. I said to her I've spent £150 but have nothing to show for it and she said I'd still have nothing to show for it even if I was going as I won't receive the tickets until a week before the concert.sheramber said:Financially you are not in any a different situation than if you were going to the concert.

I think I got myself worked up and panicking as I do worry about money unnecessarily.3 -
Naturally, you are upset by your friend's actions and reacted accordingly to what appeared to be lost money.
Now you have calmed down you can see it for what it is.

Going forwards, whoever it is ask for the money upfront before booking anything.1

Never mind, you clearly picked a good girlfriend.MikeL93 said:

You're not stupid at all.
You just put your trust in someone who's let you down.
And as above, you've not really lost the money.1 -
Don't be too hard on yourself for trusting that a mate wouldn't let you down. Real mates don't let each other down. And remember, a terrific woman like your girlfriend wouldn't have fallen for someone stupid, would she?!2
