Taking calls on both SIM cards.

I have a mobile number that I use for work and want to keep it separate from my property sale (estate agents and Solicitor).
My Motorola has 2 SIM cards but when I call the number I gave to the estate agent it does not ring but goes straight to answerphone and I am alerted by a text sent to my primary SIM.
I can listen to a message by changing the SIM preference in "Tools" but was hoping I could answer the call at the time.
Is this possible to have both SIM cards active at the same time?

This depends on the phone. Most current dual SIM phones have dual standby so you can receive calls on both SIMs.

Which model Motorola do you have?

All the dual SIM handsets that I've ever had could receive calls any time on either SIM, without any change of settings or anything else. Presumably you're not calling one SIM from the other, which of course would result in diversion to answerphone...
    Evolution, not revolution

    Thanks for the replies.
    It is a Moto G62 5G
I was calling from my landline.
In "Tools" "Network and internet" "SIM cards"
    There are 3 options.
Smart SIM (enable smart SIM cardselection for voice calls based on call history)
Personal and Work (use one SIM for wor-related voice calls based on call history)
Manual (choose your preferred  SIM card for the voice, calls, data and SMS)

I have tried all options and even though both SIMs are active, one is preferred. It does not make any difference, whichever SIM I choose it still goes straight to asnwerphone.

The G62 is a dual standby phone so you should be able to receive calls on both numbers.

The only settings are to do with outbound calls, data and what names are used for the cards. So you shouldn't need to do anything to receive calls.

By the way, the manual says the settings are in Settings, Network&Internet, SIM cards.

To trouble shoot this. Temporarily take out the SIM that does receive calls. Swap the trouble some SIM into the slot that you know works. If the SIM now works then you'll need to contact Motorola for support.

If the SIM doesn't accept calls in the other slot then you'll need to contact the SIM provider (there's either a divert to voicemail or a problem with routing)

    This is the bit that gets me confused;
'goes straight to answerphone and I am alerted by a text sent to my primary SIM.'

Why would you get a text to a one sim to inform you of an answerphone message on the other sim?

    Thank-you PHK.

I did swap the SIM cards around but still get the message "The person you are calling is on the other line, please leave a message".

This is strange. I have a Motorola g82 and for a while had 2 SIMs. It made no difference which sim I had set up for calls as this was for which SIM I would make calls from. My phone would receive calls ok from either number. The only thing I can think is the settings for the sim (possibly on the providers app/website if not your phone) are set to go straight to voicemail?

It is strange. I tried calling the number from my mobile and landline and it goes straight to answerphone.
I was going to use a cheap little phone to use for the 2nd SIM but it was asking me for a code.
Anyway, I just asked a friend to call the number while both SIM cards were in my G62 and it did ring.
So it does appear to be working, just not from my phones.

    Thank-you everyone for the help.
