Bought a mirror from the range and had it delivered (I’ve too small a car) Unfortunately it arrived broken and shards of glass everywhere. They’ve taken 5 days to respond to email so I called them today - they refuse to dispose of it and it’s up to me to do it. Furious - is there any consumer rights here please?
When you say they wont collect, do you mean that they have refunded you and then just left you the broken item? I believe that they are within their rights to do that.
I might be being picky but they don't say 'they' won't collect, they say 'they' refuse to dispose of it.
What once was a mirror is now waste so ownership matters.
Whose waste is it, the OP, the delivery company or the retailer?
If title transferred to the OP at the point of delivery it's the OP's waste and will probably fit into their car for a trip to the household recycling centre now that its dimensions have been re-arranged.
Not picky enough, read the title of the thread :)

Back in my mail order days we wouldnt collect broken mirrors/glass as it was against the terms of our couriers. If it was a glass top table or such we'd ask for the table base to be returned but mirrors, photoframes etc it was just please dispose of the item carefully and a full refund given or a replacement sent depending on customer preference and stock.

Clearly had the potential for abuse but it was before the days of digital cameras and so asking for evidence of the damage was difficult

The OP needs to push on the Range that they dont have the facilities to transport the item and so its the Ranges problem if their own courier wont collect broken glass and they want it back.

Hi - it’s a large over the door mirror.
I won’t be able to fit it in my car and would have to arrange to pay for a van and man at my expense to take it to dump
they said they could get courier to collect it but he might refuse to take it as a broken
i also must add that I have two young children at home and the last thing I want is a broken mirror hanging around. Thanks for all the comments and feedback so far.

I would be looking at contacting bank if they are not refunding. Chargeback for faulty goods.

I would not be doing anything with mirror until either they refund or agree to take back. If you go down the chargeback route. Same stands, you will need to keep mirror till it is all resolved.
