Mirror from The Range delivered broken and won’t collect

Bought a mirror from the range and had it delivered (I’ve too small a car) Unfortunately it arrived broken and shards of glass everywhere. They’ve taken 5 days to respond to email so I called them today - they refuse to dispose of it and it’s up to me to do it. Furious - is there any consumer rights here please?

from the wording I assume you bought it in store rather than on the internet
how did you then agree delivery and what were the terms conditions of the delivery company
most delivery companies don't cover mirrors for example
were you offered insurance and did you buy any, or did you just say no it will be at my own risk0 -

What once was a mirror is now waste so ownership matters.
Whose waste is it, the OP, the delivery company or the retailer?
If title transferred to the OP at the point of delivery it's the OP's waste and will probably fit into their car for a trip to the household recycling centre now that its dimensions have been re-arranged.0 -
If you bought and paid for mirror and delivery that is what you should get,
The mirror has been delivered faulty, so it's a breach of contract.
You are entitled to be put in the in the same position as though the breach never happened.
So retailer should refund you the mirror or replace it, and collect broken mirror.
If retailer refusing to collect broken mirror, you can arrange disposal and cleaning up of shards of glass then charge the retailer for this.
But doing this might be a battle in getting your money, as it might need court action
Leaving you with a large broken mirror with shards of glass everywhere is not putting you in the same position as before you bought the mirror.

I don't think putting a broken mirror in dustbin is worthy of a charge.
Main thing is that they refund Op.
Not sure any courier would take broken glass..Life in the slow lane3 -

Hi - it’s a large over the door mirror.
I won’t be able to fit it in my car and would have to arrange to pay for a van and man at my expense to take it to dump
they said they could get courier to collect it but he might refuse to take it as a broken
i also must add that I have two young children at home and the last thing I want is a broken mirror hanging around. Thanks for all the comments and feedback so far.0 -
And so far no refund or replacement offered0

I bought online and paid for delivery0

Another big company with T&Cs that are a mess. Good old industry standards....
OP risk during the delivery element lies with the trader, you need to notify them that the goods do not conform to the contract and you are exercising the short term right to reject and expect a refund within 14 days of them seeing your email.
Advise them you are making the goods available for their collection which they are required to arrange.
You might want to have a look on the CEO email website and use the contact email there as well as normal customer service.
If they won't budge pop back for more advice
